Reese is a two-phase boss in The First Berserker: Khazan. One Reese-specific guide suggests using earth damage and an aggressive approach in phase one, then leaning on Brink Guards in phase two. Treat those as strategy options, not required tactics: the available guides do not establish exact attack tells or timing windows.
Before the fight: choose a style you can execute
You do not need a particular weapon to face Reese. Pick the style that best matches how you prefer to defend and attack:

|---|---|
| Dual Wield | Damage-and-dodge oriented. |
| Greatsword | Charged attacks and Brink Guarding. |
| Spear | Stamina damage, with both Brink Guarding and dodging. |
These are broad weapon distinctions, not a Reese-specific ranking; they are described in PowerPyx’s all-boss guide. Khazan’s combat loop also rewards attacking and defending with Spirit, which you can spend on weapon skills. Use the skills suited to your weapon when you have an opening rather than saving them indefinitely; see PC Gamer’s general tips.
Phase one: pressure Reese if it suits your build
A Reese-specific guide by Wilstorm Gaming recommends earth damage and an aggressive approach in the first phase. Consider that a creator’s recommended route, not a requirement or guaranteed shortcut. Keep using the defensive approach that works with your weapon, and spend Spirit on weapon skills when openings allow.

Phase two: adapt to added moves
Neoseeker’s Great Temple guide describes phase two as adding moves while retaining much of the first phase’s moveset. The same Reese guide recommends Brink Guards during this phase. If Brink Guarding is part of your style, use it as a defensive option; the cited guides do not establish that every attack can or should be guarded this way, or give frame-specific timing for Reese.

Official descriptions frame The First Berserker: Khazan around demanding combat and distinctive boss encounters: Nexon highlights skill-based, hardcore combat on its official game site, while PlayStation’s PS5 listing describes bosses with distinct attack patterns, weaknesses, and abilities. For Reese specifically, the cited guides support the two-phase structure and the strategy suggestions above, but do not provide a complete attack-by-attack walkthrough, exact tells, damage figures, or timing data. They also do not establish whether later patches changed Reese’s balance or tactics.
