This guide covers Sylux’s final boss fight in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which unfolds in three phases: an arena battle alongside Federation companions, a hyperspace pursuit, and a platform fight. The key is to remove the tentacles before using charged Thunder Shots, stay mobile during the pursuit, and use a guided Control Beam when Sylux absorbs ordinary fire. Spoilers for the final encounter follow.
Phase 1: Remove the tentacles and use the opening
Fight alongside the Federation companions and target the green orb at the end of each of Sylux’s tentacles. Once an orb has taken enough damage, use the lasso to pull that tentacle free. Sylux swings the remaining tentacles and fires projectiles, so keep moving while you work through them.
When the tentacles are removed, Sylux is vulnerable for a short time. Lock on and fire a fully charged Thunder Shot during that opening. Repeat the tentacle-removal and damage sequence as the fight continues.
Respond to the dragon-head tentacles
After Sylux takes damage, additional tentacles appear in dragon-head forms that launch elemental attacks. Nintendo Life’s walkthrough says shooting the heads can provide health or ammunition; if you do not need those drops, you can wait for the heads to return to green-orb form and resume targeting the orbs.

Heal downed companions
A Thunder dragon head can strike across the arena and knock a companion down. Approach that companion, enter psychic mode with X, then hold L to heal them. Continue removing tentacles and exploiting the brief openings until a cutscene moves the fight forward.
Phase 2: Keep Sylux in view during the hyperspace pursuit
Track Sylux and fire the Power Beam while moving around the hyperspace arena. Stay mobile to avoid the circular projectiles and spinning batons, and collect health drops when it is safe. Nintendo Life’s walkthrough describes continuing to move and fire until the encounter advances to the platform fight.

Phase 3: Dodge attacks and punish openings
On the platform in space, charge Thunder Shot and fire when Sylux is in view. Keep moving and dodge to the sides to avoid shockwaves, melee attacks, and the energy beam that immobilizes Samus while draining health.
Recover an Energy Tank if LockJaw knocks it loose
The walkthrough describes a LockJaw collision that can knock an Energy Tank loose. If that happens, retrieve it before Sylux does; boost into Sylux if necessary to take it back.

Use Control Beam when Sylux absorbs ordinary shots
When Sylux powers up while suspended in midair, ordinary shots are absorbed. Switch to the Control Beam and steer its projectile into Sylux. Nintendo’s official overview confirms that Samus can control the trajectory of Control Beam projectiles.

Nintendo Support lists the Sylux amiibo’s function as providing easier access to an in-game cinematic and playing voice lines. It does not grant a documented combat advantage in this boss fight. Nintendo separately lists a temporary daily Health Shield and a Vi-O-La radio for the Samus amiibo, while the Samus & Vi-O-La amiibo tracks riding distance and unlocks alternate Vi-O-La skins at milestones.
Game editions
Nintendo lists Metroid Prime 4: Beyond for Nintendo Switch and as a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo says the Switch 2 Edition improves resolution, frame rate, and load times. This guide’s encounter instructions do not specify different strategies by edition or difficulty.
