To beat Spire of the Watcher, follow the cables and activate their Arc nodes in sequence: yellow circuits power mechanisms, while the red circuit controls Persys’s reactor-room door. At Akelous, complete the four fuel-rod circuits, destroy its exposed eyes, then damage its retreating core. At Persys, power the reactor with yellow nodes, lure the boss inside, evacuate, and close the door with the red nodes to remove its shield.
Before you enter
Spire of the Watcher is a Destiny 2 dungeon for fireteams of up to three. Bungie describes dungeons as more complex than most campaign missions and says they have a tough final boss and unique gear. Bungie’s activity guide gives that general description; it is not a list of Spire-specific drops.
Access can depend on your account entitlements. Bungie’s available content guide describes Dungeon Keys as granting access to several dungeons, including Spire of the Watcher. Check the current storefront and your in-game access before planning a run, since content availability can change.
Bring a survivable build, a dependable way to clear small enemies, and a precision weapon you can use to hit Akelous’s exposed eyes. Those are practical choices for the mechanics, not a tested ranking of weapons or builds.

How the cable and Arctrician mechanic works
Arc nodes are joined by visible cables. Defeat a Conduit Minotaur to get the Arctrician buff, then find the active starting node and shoot each connected node in the cable’s physical order. Watch the nodes and cables for confirmation that a circuit has registered; if progress stops, trace the route again rather than guessing at a node based on its apparent proximity.
The color matters. Yellow circuits power mechanisms and advance encounters. In Persys’s final arena, the red circuit controls the reactor-room door. The route and timing change by encounter, so follow the cables in the room rather than assuming one layout applies throughout the dungeon.
- Fireteam: A coordinated group can have players trace separate active circuits while another clears enemies and calls out missed nodes. This is a suggested tactic, not a required role setup.
- Solo: Where the encounter allows it, finish yellow circuits one at a time. Clear nearby threats before taking exposed routes, and avoid rushing the final node if you need time to regroup or handle enemies.
Opening and ascent
Use the opening section to learn how cables connect nodes. As you climb the spire, complete the yellow circuits on each level and control the enemies that arrive as you make progress. The route is built into the environment; follow the cable from node to node instead of relying on compass directions or a remembered viewpoint from another player.
Akelous, the Siren’s Current
Akelous’s damage sequence starts when the fuel-rod circuits are complete. Prepare the team before activating the last circuit so players can focus on the boss rather than scrambling to regroup.

- Defeat the Conduit Minotaur and collect Arctrician.
- Trace and complete the four fuel-rod circuits around the arena.
- Before finishing the last rod, gather the fireteam and manage nearby Harpies so they do not distract players during the damage sequence.
- When Akelous exposes its eyes, destroy them promptly. Then damage the central core as it retreats along the platform.
- Move clear when the sequence ends, then repeat the circuit and damage process if the encounter continues.
The exposed-eye sequence leads into core vulnerability, so losing time on the eyes can leave less opportunity to damage the core before it retreats. The encounter guidance establishes the sequence but does not identify a best-in-slot weapon or a guaranteed number of damage phases.
Descent
Continue through the traversal and descent sections. Red-node circuits appear during the descent, and some are timed. When you have an opportunity to prepare, locate the nodes and trace their cable route before activating the first one. This makes it easier to move through the sequence without stopping to search while the timer is running.
Persys, Primordial Ruin
Persys’s shield is removed by a reactor purge. Yellow nodes power the reactor; red nodes close the reactor-room door. The order and positioning matter: get Persys into the reactor room, then make sure every player has returned to the control area before the door closes.
- Start the encounter: Defeat both Incarcerator Hydras in the control room. Their defeat enables Conduit Minotaur spawns.
- Open the reactor room: Defeat a Conduit Minotaur, take Arctrician, and shoot the five red nodes to open the door.
- Power the reactor: Trace and complete both active yellow circuits.
- Lure Persys inside: Keep the boss moving toward the reactor room while the team completes the circuits.
- Evacuate and close the door: Once Persys is inside, return to the safe control area. Activate the red nodes to shut the door with the boss still in the reactor room. Do not leave a player inside.
- Damage the boss: The reactor purge strips Persys’s shield and opens the damage window. Damage it, survive the reset, and repeat the process if it is still alive.
The key callout is “yellow powers the reactor; red closes the room.” Coordinate the evacuation before anyone starts the closing red-node sequence.

Running circuits in parallel can reduce setup time for a group that knows the routes, but it also demands clear callouts and enough enemy control to keep runners safe. For a first clear or a solo run, completing circuits sequentially and clearing threats before moving through exposed areas is a more cautious approach. These are tactical trade-offs, not measured completion-time comparisons.
- Prioritize speed: Assign runners to different active circuits and have one player watch for adds and missed nodes. Use this only if the team can reliably communicate the node order.
- Prioritize safety: Clear Harpies, Supplicants, and other nearby enemies before committing to exposed routes; complete one circuit at a time where possible.
- Protect the regroup: Before Akelous’s last fuel rod or Persys’s red door closure, make sure the team is ready and in the correct area. These transitions are costly places to discover that someone is out of position.
Rewards and what is confirmed
Bungie’s May 13, 2025 Destiny 2 Update 8.2.6.1 says an issue that prevented proper rewards from dropping from Spire’s final chests was fixed. That documents a fix at that time; it does not establish whether later reward bugs or reward-rule changes occurred.
The official information cited here does not provide a complete current encounter-by-encounter loot table or confirm repeat-clear rules, weekly rotation, current Power requirements, or difficulty modifiers. Check the in-game reward panel and Bungie’s current activity information for those details rather than relying on an older list.
