The enemy is a spore maiden; “floating ballsacks” is the colloquial name used by characters in the game, according to Kotaku’s October 5, 2026 report. The article describes it as a large, unusually durable target that releases floating spores which fire needles at you.

Where to aim and what to use
Aim for the eyeball
Kotaku identifies the spore maiden’s eyeball as a weak point. Keep your aim on it while attacking, but do not expect a quick takedown: in writer Zack Zwiezen’s standard-difficulty campaign experience, it took more than 200 Lancer bullets to kill one, even while he aimed at the weak point. That is one player’s reported experience, not an official damage value or a guaranteed count for every encounter.
Spend explosives if you have them
Kotaku recommends using explosives against the spore maiden. The report does not establish a required explosive, a number of explosives, or how much damage any one option deals, so treat them as a useful way to attack a tough target rather than a guaranteed one-shot solution.

How to handle its spores
The floating spores shoot needles and can continue spawning until the spore maiden is killed. When the encounter allows it, prioritize the maiden to stop that continuing source of pressure. Keep moving and watch for incoming spores while you attack; the available report does not provide a fixed dodge pattern or a step-by-step sequence that applies to every fight.

The published account describes encounters with multiple spore maidens, including a side mission with about four, but it is not a reproducible walkthrough. It does not establish exact damage values, a mandatory weapon, an explosive count, or how the fight changes across difficulty settings or platforms. If your maiden takes more or fewer shots than the reported standard-difficulty example, that alone does not indicate a problem.
