Current 1.0-era guides place Zoe and Grizzbolt around level 10 and report a five-minute normal-mode timer, while older pre-1.0 coverage used a ten-minute timer. Check the countdown displayed in your own game version, but prepare for the shorter limit.
What counters Grizzbolt?
Grizzbolt is Electric, so Ground attacks are the most useful matchup identified by current guides. Put at least one Ground-type Pal in your party and make sure it has an effective Ground move. You do not need a rare endgame Pal: a Ground Pal near level 10 can handle the encounter with sensible movement and cover.
Accessible Ground options
Older coverage recommends Rushoar as an early-game choice. Newer coverage highlights Anubis as a strong counter, but Anubis is not a beginner requirement. Choose the strongest Ground Pal you can raise safely before entering.

Level and equipment
There is no well-supported mandatory player level. Current 1.0 guides place practical preparation roughly between levels 10 and 15; a September 2026 guide lists the encounter at level 10 and says starter-tier equipment can be enough. A January 2024 Windows Central walkthrough advised level 12 minimum, preferably 14–15, but that is conservative pre-1.0 guidance rather than a current requirement.

Party and healing plan
Do not leave one exposed Pal on the field until it is knocked out. Recall a Ground Pal when its health becomes dangerous and rotate another member. This keeps your type advantage available for the whole encounter.
How to beat Zoe and Grizzbolt: the fight plan
1. Keep moving
Do not stand beside Grizzbolt and trade hits. Circle around the arena, dodge incoming attacks, and use short attack windows rather than committing to long stationary combos.
2. Use the pillars as cover
The arena pillars are your safest defensive tool. Move behind one when Grizzbolt fires a ranged attack, then step out from a different angle. The obstruction can block projectiles and break line of sight, giving you time to recover or reposition.
3. Send in the Ground Pal
Deploy your Ground-type Pal while you stay mobile. Its type advantage supplies the core damage plan; your weapon is supplemental damage, not a substitute for the matchup. If your Pal is being focused or its health drops sharply, recall it and send out another prepared member.

- Control everything that happens in your park, from what your animals eat to what eats your animals…
- Decide whether you want to run your Zoo above board... or break the law and pocket the extra cash
4. Split attention when useful
The 2024 walkthrough recommends separating yourself from your summoned Pal so Grizzbolt has to divide its attention. This can create safer openings, but treat it as an optional tactic rather than a guaranteed mechanic across every patch.
5. Aim for Zoe only when safe
Older coverage also suggests aiming at Zoe for headshot damage. Take that shot only when the pillar or your movement has already made the angle safe; stopping in the open to chase a headshot is usually a worse trade than continuing to pressure Grizzbolt with your Pal.
6. Maintain pressure against the timer
Recent guides report five minutes for the original tower fights after the 1.0-era changes. Keep attacking whenever you have a safe opening instead of spending the fight entirely behind cover.
Which timer applies?
Timer advice is version-sensitive and sources conflict. Windows Central’s January 2024 pre-1.0 walkthrough states a strict ten-minute limit. A July 2026 guide also reports ten minutes, while a September 2026 1.0 guide says the original tower timer was reduced to five minutes in the July 2026 launch. No official patch note confirming this specific encounter’s timer was located.
Rank #3
Plan for five minutes if you are playing a current 1.0 build, and verify the countdown shown when the fight starts. The older ten-minute strategy should not be your safety margin.

Hard Mode is a separate late-game version, not a stronger setting of the early level-10 tower fight. Do not use its requirements to judge whether you are ready for the normal encounter.
| Encounter | Progression | Reported timer | Opening adds | Key threat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal Zoe and Grizzbolt | Early Rayne Syndicate Tower; guides place it around level 10 | Five minutes in recent 1.0 guides; older coverage says ten | Not reported in the cited normal-mode guides | Electric Grizzbolt attacks; use Ground moves and pillar cover |
| Hard Mode Zoe and Grizzbolt | Late game, after the Azure Covenant Tower boss | Five minutes, according to an August 13, 2026 community guide | Two opening Syndicate enemies, according to that guide | Added Grass attacks can threaten Ground Pals |
The same community guide reports Hard Mode at level 72 with 464,000 HP. Those figures are community-published values, not independently verified official statistics. Hard Mode also adds Grass attacks, so simply copying a normal-mode Ground-only plan is unsafe.
Quick Recap
Quick troubleshooting
Grizzbolt overwhelms your Pal immediately
- Recall it before its health reaches critical levels and rotate another Pal.
- Use a pillar to break line of sight before redeploying.
- Raise your party toward the level 10–15 guide range or improve armor if the fight remains too punishing.
You run out of time
- Confirm the in-game timer; current guides report five minutes.
- Enter with a Ground move ready rather than relying on player weapons alone.
- Attack from cover, but do not remain hidden through every damage window.
You cannot dodge consistently
- Fight from the outside of the arena and circle the pillars.
- Preserve stamina by arriving fed and avoiding unnecessary sprints.
- Let your Pal draw attention while you reposition instead of standing close to Grizzbolt.
