To restore Sanity in Deepwoken, sit at a campfire or use a Heartening or Sanity Regeneration potion. Passive recovery is disabled in the Depths, so if you are there, use an available recovery item or a build- or location-specific option instead of waiting.
Ways to restore Sanity
| Method | Where or when it helps | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Campfire | Restores Sanity when you sit at one, subject to the location’s rules. | Access to a usable campfire. Deepbound players can rest at Castle Light’s campfire, according to the First Layer guide. |
| Heartening or Sanity Regeneration potion | A direct recovery option; the status effects reference lists Heartening remedies, potions, salves, tinctures, and elixirs under Sanity Restoration. | A suitable item. It can also restore Sanity when splashed on you. |
| Passive regeneration | Works outside the Depths; disabled in the Depths, according to the Insanity reference. | Time outside the Depths. |
| Talent, ability, or aura | Some options can help in particular builds or locations. | Examples listed by the Insanity reference include Conquer Your Fears, standing near a Graceful Flame whose caster has Undying Flame, and auras associated with Castle Light and Chariot’s Spire. |
If you are in the Depths and do not have a relevant talent, ability, or aura available, prioritize a potion or a usable campfire rather than waiting for passive recovery.
How to make a Sanity Regeneration potion
The Alchemy reference lists the standard recipe as three Bluecaps and two Spider Eggs. It also lists a Saltchemist alternative: three Urchins and two Seaweed or Scallops with an Antithetic salt. Recipes can change with game updates, so check current in-game or reference details if the listed ingredients do not work.
What low Sanity means
Sanity is a current stat, while maximum Sanity is the amount your character can hold. The character stats reference lists starting maximum Sanity as 80 and says Willpower, equipment, and talents can raise that maximum. Raising capacity does not refill the current Sanity bar.

As Sanity drops, the Insanity reference describes escalating effects. The lowest tier is especially dangerous: being knocked there can result in immediate death. When your Sanity is low, seek a recovery option before taking unnecessary risks.
These mechanics and exact recipes are documented in community wiki references rather than official developer documentation, and can be version-sensitive.
