There is no single best low-cost lineup for every event; wave structure, enemy classes, event bonuses, your roster, and your regional client all matter.
Start with the node, not a pre-made team
Before choosing Servants, note the node’s wave structure, enemy classes, and the event currency or item you want. Decide whether your priority is retaining as much event bonus as possible or getting a dependable clear. Event quests and bonuses can differ by regional client and change over time, so check the current event notice and the node in your game.
Fate/Grand Order’s official beginner guide recommends participating in events for event-limited Servants and items, but it does not provide current quest-by-quest farming data: official beginner and returning-player guide. Its contents are dated 2025-03-29. For event-specific details, consult the notice for your client and region.
Choose a damage dealer for the enemies you face
Use the node’s enemy classes to identify an attacker with a favorable class matchup. The official party guide explains that class matchups affect battle outcomes: party formation guide. A favorable matchup is a useful starting point, not a guarantee that an attacker can clear a wave; level, skills, command cards, and the rest of your plan also matter.

For a multi-wave quest, decide which Servant is meant to handle each wave before filling support roles. The official sources do not establish damage thresholds or guarantee that a particular low-rarity Servant can clear a specific event wave.
Use the support slot to cover your largest gap
A party can include up to five of your own Servants and one support Servant borrowed from another Master. That borrowed Servant does not count against party cost, according to the official party guide. Treat the slot as a way to preserve cost for your own units and Craft Essences, and choose a support for a concrete need: damage, a useful class matchup, or a skill that helps your planned clear.

A high-profile support is not automatically the right choice. Its value depends on the enemies and roles your team still needs, and the official mechanics do not name one universally optimal support.
Fill your own slots with useful, affordable roles
Low-rarity Servants can help keep a party within budget, but rarity alone does not make a unit useful for a particular node. Include an owned Servant when it contributes damage, a needed support effect, survival, or a worthwhile backup. Avoid filling every available slot just because it is open: Servants and Craft Essences share a finite party-cost budget.

The reviewed official guides do not list Servant costs or provide a current low-rarity farming tier list. Without node-specific evidence, a named unit should not be presented as a universal recommendation.
Balance Craft Essences against clear reliability
Each deployed Servant has one Craft Essence slot, and Craft Essences count toward party cost. Equip event-relevant CEs when their bonuses suit the active event and the inventory you have, but do not sacrifice a reliable clear simply to maximize bonus. Check the current regional event notice for the actual CE effects and bonus rules; the official party guide establishes the slot and cost mechanics, not the active event’s effects or stacking behavior.

Spend materials where they improve the plan
Official guidance says Servant leveling raises parameters; ascension can raise level caps and may unlock skills; and skill leveling improves skill effects and can reduce cooldown at certain levels. For repeat farming, prioritize the attacker and the skills that change whether your intended waves clear reliably, rather than assuming every unit needs maximum investment. The beginner guide describes in-game quests and systems for obtaining materials and QP.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Test the lineup and compare trade-offs
- Equip the planned CEs and check party cost. Make sure the full formation fits after adding equipment.
- Run the actual node. Follow your intended skill and command-card plan, and check whether each wave is manageable.
- Adjust the cause of a failure. Reconsider class matchup, levels, skill use, or the borrowed support’s role. If needed, give up some event bonus for a more dependable clear.
- Compare alternatives on the same terms. Consider wave-clear likelihood, cost after CEs, retained event bonus, turns and button sequence, resource investment, and how much the plan depends on a particular support being available.
These comparisons are practical decision criteria based on the game’s documented cost, support, matchup, and training systems—not official performance measurements. Do not assume a specific turn count or drop rate without evidence for the exact event, node, roster, and regional client.

Set a formation for the active event
The official FAQ advises players to set an “Event Quest” formation to match the event being held. This is a direct translation of its Japanese wording, not an official English localization: official support FAQ. A formation prepared for one event may not suit another event’s enemies or bonuses.
