Build around the mode’s rules and your immediate goal: PvE asks you to answer a stage or boss, while PvP asks you to execute a plan against an opponent who may draft, pick, or ban around yours. Start with the win condition, then choose heroes and equipment that let the team carry it out.
Start with the mode, not a universal tier list
Smilegate presents Epic Seven as a strategy game built around combinations of heroes, and its official game overview highlights World Arena. That framing matters: a roster that clears an automated PvE stage is not automatically suited to a PvP draft, and a team designed to act first may struggle in a fight where it must absorb an opening attack.
Before choosing units, answer three questions:
- What ends the fight in this mode? A stage clear, surviving a boss mechanic, or defeating an opposing draft may call for different plans.
- What is the main obstacle? Identify the enemy threat, stage condition, or PvP opponent’s likely strategy that your lineup must answer.
- Can your available heroes and equipment execute the plan? A theoretical lineup is not useful if it cannot reliably perform its intended sequence.
For PvE, treat team selection as a response to the particular stage or boss. For PvP, decide whether you are trying to take the initiative or survive the opponent’s opening, then adapt to the actual rules and selections in that format.
How team building changes by activity
The activities below are not interchangeable. The official Google Play listing identifies Raid Labyrinth, Arena, and Guild Wars among the game’s activities. An unofficial PvP fundamentals guide, last updated September 12, 2026, distinguishes additional PvP formats. Exact rules and availability can change, so use the live client as the authority for the mode you are entering.

| Activity or format | What to build around | What is established here |
|---|---|---|
| Adventure and other PvE stages | Read the stage conditions and enemy threats; select heroes whose skills address them. | No single optimal lineup is established for Adventure. |
| Hunts, Abyss, and Expeditions | Evaluate the particular encounter and its requirements rather than carrying over a team by default. | No current, mode-specific optimal teams or mechanics are established here. |
| Labyrinth / Raid | Build for the specific encounter and check the activity’s live rules. | Raid Labyrinth is named in the official Google Play listing; no optimal lineup is established here. |
| Automatic Arena | Plan for a team that will operate under the mode’s selection and battle rules. | The September 2026 unofficial guide distinguishes automatic Arena from draft-based formats. |
| Guild Wars | Check the current battle rules and build for the opposing defense. | Guild Wars is named in the official Google Play listing; no current composition guide is established here. |
| World Arena / Real-Time Arena | Draft toward a coherent win condition, respond to picks, and account for bans where the format uses them. | The unofficial guide discusses drafting, picks, bans, and counter-picks in relevant formats. |
| The Call of Chaos | Check whether the mode is available and what its current rules are in the client before drafting. | Smilegate announced it on August 25, 2026 as a new real-time PvP mode planned for World Arena; the announcement alone does not confirm current availability. |
This is a mode-selection framework, not a current hero-by-hero roster guide. Exact team recommendations, builds, and encounter mechanics need to be checked against the live game and the specific activity.
Choose a PvP plan: act first or endure
The September 12, 2026 unofficial PvP guide describes two broad team archetypes. They are strategic choices, not guaranteed outcomes or universal recommendations.

| Plan | How it tries to win | What can undermine it |
|---|---|---|
| Cleave | Prioritize taking the first turn, set up a sequence, and try to defeat the opposition quickly. | Losing the speed contest or failing to complete the planned sequence can leave the team exposed. |
| Tank-down | Withstand the opening, then seek a win through durability, healing, and sustained turns. | The team needs to survive the opponent’s pressure and make use of the longer fight; durability alone does not guarantee a win. |
Use the archetype that fits your roster and the matchup. A speed-led plan is a poor choice if your available units cannot reliably act in the intended order. A durable plan makes little sense if it cannot withstand the opening or convert survival into a win.
Build around a coherent win condition
In a PvP draft, judge each pick by whether it advances your plan or answers a threat. The unofficial guide emphasizes first picks, bans, filling roster roles, and counter-picking; a named hero is not automatically the right choice if it does not fit the draft.

- Choose how you intend to win. Decide whether the lineup is built to seize the first turn and finish quickly or to endure and win over sustained turns.
- Make early picks that establish the plan. Prefer picks that support the win condition while preserving room to react to the opponent.
- Read the opposing draft. Identify what could disrupt your plan, and choose later picks that improve your answer to that threat.
- Use bans to protect the plan. Consider which opposing unit is most likely to prevent your team from executing its win condition.
- Check the finished lineup as a whole. Confirm that its picks work together and that your equipment and speed order support the intended sequence.
The guide discusses speed tuning and counter-picks, but its numerical speed targets and named hero or artifact examples are dated opinions from an unofficial source, not universal requirements or independently tested benchmarks. Do not treat them as a permanent checklist.
Build a PvE team for the encounter in front of you
For PvE, begin with the stage or boss rather than a general-purpose ranking. The official materials identify activities such as Raid Labyrinth, and Smilegate’s August 25, 2026 anniversary announcement described Dimensional Exploration as an upcoming roguelike PvE mode. These mentions do not establish a best lineup for those activities or confirm that an announced mode is currently available.
Rank #4
- Anti-drift Hall Effect sticks: Using GameSir non-contact magnetic Hall Effect technology to ensure the sticks never wear down in their lifetime and provide an ultra lifespan of up to 5 million cycles, GameSir T7 prevents stick drift and secures reliable, durable stick performance for gaming on Xbox, PC and Steam.
- Precision-tuned Hall effect analog triggers: With precision-tuned Hall Effect triggers for a consistent, smooth pull, get ready to race with confidence and enjoy a seamless gaming experience like never before.
- Realistic and subtle vibration: The controller features a total of four rumble motors, with one motor in each grip and trigger, providing immersive and realistic vibration feedback. Additionally, the two asymmetric actuators in the grips enhance the realism of the vibrations, ensuring that every small crash and shot is felt in your hands as if it were happening on the spot.
- Comfort Ergonomic Design and textured surface: The ergonomic design, combined with the delicate laser-textured surface on the grips, bumpers, and triggers, ensures a secure hold and provides a comfortable, stable grip, even during extended gaming sessions.
- 3.5mm headphone jack: The 3.5mm audio jack allows easy headset connection for immersive sound and clear communication.
- Read the stage and encounter information. Note the conditions, enemy threats, and any mechanics that can stop progress.
- Match hero skills to those demands. Choose units for the problems they can solve in that encounter, not simply because they are highly regarded elsewhere.
- Check whether the team can repeat its plan. A lineup should be able to perform its intended actions through the encounter, not just look strong on paper.
- Test and adjust against the failure point. If the team loses, identify what caused the failure and change the relevant part of the plan rather than replacing units at random.
This is a practical way to reason about PvE teams, not an official formula or a sourced list of optimal compositions. Current hero builds and exact mode mechanics are not established for Adventure, hunts, Abyss, Labyrinth/Raid, Expeditions, or other PvE activities here; verify recommendations for the particular stage before relying on them.

Mode and roster recommendations have a short shelf life. Smilegate’s August 25, 2026 anniversary announcement described a planned Steam release and announced Dimensional Exploration and The Call of Chaos; it records what was announced on that date, not what is currently playable. Its June 29, 2026 summer update listed an Epic Dash event running through August 27 and a limited-time summer hero. Those dated examples show why event and availability claims should not be reused as current advice without checking the client.
