Don’t assume Black Friday will bring an Xbox Series X discount. Microsoft’s published Black Friday dates and reported Xbox offers are for 2025; they do not confirm a 2026 sale or price. If you can wait, track the exact Series X configuration you want and compare any offer with its current price, condition, seller, and return terms. If you need the console by a fixed date, buy when you find an acceptable total price rather than relying on an unannounced deal.
Choose the Xbox Series X configuration you actually want
Microsoft’s US product page lists three Series X configurations. Retail listings may abbreviate the name, so check the model and features rather than treating every “Series X” offer as equivalent. Microsoft’s Xbox Series X product page lists the following:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
| Configuration | Disc drive | Storage | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon Black | 4K UHD Blu-ray drive | 1TB | Confirm the listing is the disc-enabled console. |
| Robot White | All-digital | 1TB | It cannot play physical game discs or Blu-rays. |
| Galaxy Black special edition | 4K UHD Blu-ray drive | 2TB | Compare its price with the 1TB model; decide whether the added storage and special design are worth it to you. |
Microsoft lists True 4K gaming, support for up to 120 frames per second, and compatibility with thousands of games across four Xbox generations. The listed console package includes a controller, Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, and power cord. A Storage Expansion Card is optional; consider one only if you need additional storage.

If your priority is a lower-cost, all-digital console and you do not need a disc drive, compare Series S offers too. Series X is the higher-power, disc-friendly choice; Series S is the lower-cost digital option. Your physical-game collection, interest in 4K and higher performance, budget, and storage needs are the useful deciding factors. GamesRadar’s Series X versus Series S comparison also frames the choice around those trade-offs.

Should you wait until Black Friday?
Wait if your timing is flexible and you are willing to accept that the model you want might not be discounted or in stock. Buy sooner if you need the console by a particular date and find a price and seller you are comfortable with.
There is no established typical Black Friday saving for the Series X in the available reporting, so avoid using an assumed percentage or target price. Microsoft’s US Black Friday page records a November 20–29, 2025 sale window; that is historical, not a confirmed 2026 schedule. Its general FAQ says offers may include consoles, games, accessories, or Game Pass, with exact deals varying. Microsoft Store’s Black Friday page does not by itself establish a Series X discount.

GamesRadar’s retrospective on 2025 reported no Xbox Series X/S bundle discounts during those sales, although some games, controllers, and storage products were discounted. That is one publisher’s account of one year, not a guarantee about every retailer or a forecast for 2026. GamesRadar’s 2025 Xbox deal retrospective is useful as a reminder that accessory deals are not console discounts.

- Record a baseline. Before shopping, note the price of the exact model and condition you want. Include shipping and any membership required to get the advertised price.
- Compare equivalent offers. Separate new, open-box, used, and certified refurbished consoles. Check the model, bundle contents, seller, warranty and return terms, stock, delivery date, and total checkout price.
- Check the seller and listing. Confirm whether it is Carbon Black with a disc drive, Robot White all-digital, Galaxy Black, or a bundle. Check who sells and ships it, and whether the unit is new or refurbished.
- Decide whether the terms justify a less familiar offer. A lower price may come with a shorter return window, different warranty, or slower delivery. Compare those terms before checkout.
Amazon is one possible comparison destination, but a marketplace listing is not automatically a new console sold by Amazon. Check the seller identity and product condition on the specific offer. No particular Amazon price or stock level is established here.

Consider Microsoft Certified Refurbished—but verify the exact offer
In its June 25, 2026 update, Xbox Wire said Xbox Certified Refurbished Consoles were available at Microsoft Stores for up to US$100 off MSRP. “Up to” is a maximum, not a guaranteed discount on a particular Series X model, and the offer does not establish that a specific configuration is in stock in every market. Check the exact model, condition, warranty, return terms, and checkout price before comparing it with a new unit. Xbox Wire’s June 2026 console price update also said console storage and memory prices had risen by more than 2.5 times.
In the same update, Xbox wrote: “Unlike phones, computers, speakers, and other consumer devices, consoles are typically not sold at a profit, but instead for less than they cost to make.” That company statement provides price context; it does not predict whether a Black Friday discount will appear.

Check holiday return terms before relying on them
Microsoft’s US Black Friday page describes extended holiday return terms for eligible physical products bought October 1 through December 2, 2026, with returns through January 31, 2027, in select markets. The terms are conditional and have exclusions. Before counting on them, check whether your product, purchase channel, market, purchase date, and in-stock status qualify. The page also describes conditional price-adjustment terms; confirm eligibility and rules with the retailer rather than assuming a later price drop will be refunded. Read the current Microsoft Store Black Friday terms.
Quick Recap
If the console itself is not discounted
- Compare a Microsoft Certified Refurbished console or a previously played console, if available from a seller whose terms you accept. Xbox Wire says it is working with retail partners on previously played console programs; availability depends on those partners.
- Consider Series S if an all-digital console and lower price fit your needs better than Series X’s disc drive and higher performance.
- Keep accessory savings separate from the console’s price. A controller is included with the listed Series X package, and a Storage Expansion Card is optional. Buy either only if it meets a specific need.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
