Buy games for a PS5 Digital Edition through PlayStation Store on the console, in the PlayStation App, or on the PlayStation website. After checkout, download the game from your account’s Game Library. You’ll need an internet connection and a PlayStation account; the Digital Edition does not use PS4 game discs.
Buy a game on your PS5
- Open PlayStation Store from the PS5 home screen.
- Search for the game or browse the Store, then open its product page.
- Check that you have selected the intended edition. Review its age rating, compatibility notices, and system requirements.
- Select the price and follow the on-screen checkout instructions.
- After purchase, go to Games home > Game Library > Your Collection, select the game, and choose Download. Sony says the game installs automatically once downloading begins. PlayStation Support: download games on PS5

Buy through the PlayStation App or website
Open PlayStation Store in the PlayStation App or a web browser, find the game, select the edition you want, and complete checkout. You can then download the purchase to your console from the Game Library. To start a download remotely, the console must be linked to the account and set up as Sony specifies; whether it starts immediately can depend on your console’s settings.
Choose how to pay
At checkout, use a payment method supported for your account or pay with PlayStation wallet funds. A PlayStation Store gift card is one optional way to add funds to the wallet. Accepted payment methods and voucher rules can vary by account region, so check the payment guidance for your local Store before buying a card or relying on a particular payment option. What the Digital Edition means for discs
A PS5 Digital Edition buys and plays games digitally through the Store; a PS4 game disc cannot be used on it. Some Digital Edition console models can use a separately sold disc drive, but compatibility depends on the exact model. If a purchased game is missing
- Confirm that the console is signed in to the PlayStation account used for the purchase.
- Check Games home > Game Library > Your Collection.
