Epic says it does not partner with third-party V-Bucks sellers, and purchases from unauthorized sellers may not deliver V-Bucks; Epic Support says it cannot refund or grant currency for those purchases. Never give a seller your Epic password, payment details, or verification codes.
Which V-Bucks purchase options are safe?
Epic Games lists its in-game V-Bucks store, the Epic Games Store, Fortnite’s web Item Shop, and official cards from authorized retailers as safe purchase routes. Its support page states, “Epic Games does not partner with any third-party V-Bucks sellers.” A low price or a page that looks convincing does not establish that a seller is authorized.

| Purchase in Fortnite, the Epic Games Store, or Fortnite’s web Item Shop | V-Bucks purchased through an official channel | Confirm you are signed into the Epic account you intend to use. For PlayStation and Xbox, Epic lists in-game purchases, V-Bucks card redemption, and Epic Games Store purchases as routes. |
| Fortnite gift card | Funds added to your Epic account balance, which you can spend on V-Bucks | Buy only from an authorized retailer in a supported region, and make sure the card currency matches your Epic balance currency. |
| Older V-Bucks card | V-Bucks redeemed through Epic’s V-Bucks card flow | Availability is region-dependent as Fortnite gift cards replace V-Bucks cards. Follow the card’s redemption flow and check the intended platform account. |
Epic says Fortnite gift cards are sold in physical and online stores, but that does not confirm that a particular marketplace listing or seller is authorized. Verify the retailer for your region rather than relying on the listing alone.
How to redeem a Fortnite gift card or an older V-Bucks card
Fortnite gift card
- Check that the gift card is supported in your country and that its currency matches the currency of your Epic account balance.
- Go to Epic’s official gift-card redemption page and sign in to the Epic account where you want the funds.
- Review the account and card details before confirming. The card adds funds to your Epic balance; use that balance to buy V-Bucks.
At the time Epic’s gift-card page was reviewed, it listed Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States as supported. Check Epic’s current page before buying because availability and denominations can change.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
Older V-Bucks card
- Use Epic’s official V-Bucks card redemption flow.
- Check that the Epic display name shown corresponds to the Fortnite account you intend to credit, then select the linked platform you want.
- Review the account, device, and resulting balance before confirming. Keep the card and receipt.
- If redeeming for PlayStation or Xbox, finish the process by entering the secondary code Epic generates into the Sony or Microsoft account linked to your Epic account.
What to know about consoles and Nintendo Switch
Epic lists in-game purchase, V-Bucks card redemption, and Epic Games Store purchase as options for PlayStation and Xbox players. A card redemption for either console may require the additional platform-code step described above.
Nintendo Switch does not support Fortnite Shared Wallet. Epic says V-Bucks bought using Epic account balance can still be spent in the web Item Shop or on another connected Shared Wallet platform, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile, or cloud gaming. Items purchased with V-Bucks appear in the Locker across connected platforms. As a result, a balance bought with Epic account funds may not appear on Switch even though items purchased with it are shared.

What to do if purchased V-Bucks are missing
- Restart Fortnite, then confirm you are using the Epic account associated with the purchase.
- Check which platform processed the payment, your transaction history, and whether Shared Wallet rules explain a balance difference.
- Contact the store or platform that processed the purchase. Epic directs PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo buyers to their platform’s support; Epic Games Store buyers can contact Epic.
Keep the receipt or transaction record so the relevant store or platform can identify the purchase. If the purchase was from an unauthorized seller, Epic says Support cannot refund or grant the V-Bucks.

How to protect your Epic account
- Use a unique password and enable two-factor authentication.
- Never share your Epic credentials, payment details, or verification codes with a seller.
- Avoid third-party V-Bucks sites and giveaway pages that ask for account access or promise unofficial currency.
Epic does not publish a fraud rate for unauthorized V-Bucks sellers, so there is no reliable prevalence figure to compare. The practical risk is clear in its warning: an unofficial seller may take payment without delivering V-Bucks, and giving away account details can compromise your account.
