Can you use Microsoft Rewards points to buy Minecraft?
Not directly at every Minecraft storefront. The supported route is to redeem an eligible Microsoft or Xbox gift card in the Rewards catalog; Microsoft says redeemed cards are deposited into the Microsoft account balance. That balance can pay for some Microsoft Store content, including games, where the checkout accepts it. Offers and redemption costs vary by region and account, and gift cards may be temporarily unavailable. Microsoft’s redemption guidance says to redeem in the same region where you registered your Rewards account.

How to buy Minecraft with Rewards points
- Check the Rewards catalog. Sign in to Microsoft Rewards and open Redeem. Look for a Microsoft or Xbox gift card, then review the point cost, denomination, and any conditions shown for your account. Do not assume a particular card or point price will be available.
- Redeem the displayed offer to the right account. Make sure you are signed in to the Microsoft account you intend to use for the game. Microsoft says Rewards-redemption Microsoft and Xbox gift cards are deposited into that account’s balance. Review expiry terms if the offer identifies the balance as promotional. Microsoft’s Rewards redemption page explains regional availability and redemption requirements.
- Open the store for your edition and platform. For Windows PC, the official product is Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC. Xbox editions are listed through Xbox Store/Microsoft Store. Other versions—including PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android—are sold through their platform-specific stores; Microsoft account balance is not established as a payment method for those third-party checkouts. - Check the signed-in account and checkout total. At the Microsoft or Xbox checkout, verify that the account balance is available and see whether it covers the full order. Microsoft says account balance can pay for some Store content; if the balance is short, its guidance says the balance may be used first and another payment option used for the remainder when available. Confirm the actual payment split in the order screen before placing the order. Microsoft’s account-balance guidance covers eligible purchases and payment options.
- Use the purchasing account to install later. Minecraft’s PC guidance says the game appears in the library when you sign in with the Microsoft account used to buy it. Check that account before buying another copy or moving to another PC. The PC product page provides the official purchase and account details.
Which Minecraft store should you use?

What if the gift card or payment option is missing?
No Microsoft or Xbox gift card appears
Some Rewards gift cards are not always available, and Microsoft Support says it cannot predict when they will return or be removed. Check the Redeem catalog again later; do not spend points on a different reward assuming it will fund Minecraft. Microsoft Rewards redemption guidance.
You are traveling or the account is set to another region
Redeem in the region where the Rewards account was registered. Microsoft warns that using another market or using a VPN or proxy to conceal location can violate policy. The catalog and required points can differ by region. Microsoft’s redemption guidance.

Verification does not work
If Microsoft requires phone verification for redemption, its guidance specifies a mobile or landline number rather than a VoIP number. Microsoft Rewards redemption guidance.
Your balance is less than the total
Review the order screen for an available second payment method. Microsoft describes using account balance first and another option for the difference when one is available, but the current checkout determines whether that combination is offered for your order. Microsoft account-balance guidance.

You already bought the PC game but cannot find it

No. A prepaid code is a separate purchase and redemption route. Minecraft says Java & Bedrock PC codes require an active Microsoft account, but that does not establish that Rewards points can directly buy codes from third-party retailers.
