If your PS4 controller’s sticks are drifting or not responding, Sony’s reviewed DUALSHOCK 4 support guidance does not provide a dedicated analog-stick calibration procedure. It does document how to reset and reconnect the controller. A reset is a troubleshooting step—not a promise to recalibrate a stick or cure stick drift.
Is there a PS4 controller calibration setting?
Sony’s reviewed support pages describe resetting and troubleshooting a DUALSHOCK 4, but do not list a dedicated analog-stick calibration menu. The PS4 settings Sony documents cover general controller options, not stick calibration.

You can find those options under Settings > Devices > Controllers. Depending on your console’s language, labels may differ. The listed controls include controller-speaker volume, vibration, and DUALSHOCK 4 light-bar intensity. A communication-method option appears only for a CUH-ZCT2 controller connected by USB. Changing these settings does not calibrate the analog sticks. Sony’s PS4 controller settings guidance lists the available options.
How to reset and reconnect a DUALSHOCK 4
Sony’s US instructions say to reset the controller, reconnect it to the console with the official USB cable, and press the PS button to pair it. Follow this sequence:

- Turn off and unplug the PS4.
- Disconnect the controller from its USB cable.
- Turn the controller over. Use a small unfolded paper clip or similar item to press the recessed reset button inside the tiny hole on the back. Hold it for at least five seconds.
- Reconnect the controller to the PS4 using the official USB cable.
- Press the PS button to pair the controller with the console.
The reset button is on the controller’s rear. The steps and minimum hold time above follow Sony’s US DUALSHOCK 4 troubleshooting instructions. Sony’s Canadian support page describes a shorter hold of roughly 3–5 seconds; follow the instructions for your region rather than treating those different timings as one universal duration. What to do if the controller still misbehaves
Sony identifies “Button or analog stick issue” as a troubleshooting path. If resetting and reconnecting does not resolve the problem, its support guidance directs users to PlayStation Repairs. Use PlayStation’s controller support and repair guidance to continue troubleshooting or find the appropriate repair route for your region.
