Catch Frozen Leviathan in Challenger’s Deep, the second layer of Mariana’s Veil. The current player-maintained listing names Truffle Worm as its preferred bait and reports a punishing −90% Progress Speed effect while reeling it in. Bring cold protection, and treat the bait and mechanics as community-wiki guidance rather than guaranteed requirements or official odds.
Where to find Frozen Leviathan
Frozen Leviathan is listed in Challenger’s Deep, the second layer of Mariana’s Veil. It is currently classified as Exotic; the fish page’s change history says its rarity changed from Secret to Exotic in version 1.23.0. Older guides calling it Secret may therefore be out of date.
To reach the area, travel to Mariana’s Veil and descend to Challenger’s Deep. A community progression page describes respawning the submarine, returning to the main tunnel, and following the route downward, but the available reference does not establish every unlock prerequisite. Check the live game for current route access and progression requirements. Mariana’s Veil progression reference.
Prepare for the cold
Challenger’s Deep is described as a cold environment. Its location reference lists Glimmerfin Suit Lv.2 for cold protection and also names the Winter Cloak as an alternative. Equip suitable protection before spending time fishing there. These recommendations come from a community-maintained location page, so verify current requirements in game. Use the listed bait and prepare for a slow reel
The Frozen Leviathan page lists Truffle Worm as its preferred bait. That means it is the best-supported bait to try from the available listing—not that it is proven mandatory, guarantees a bite, or has a documented catch-rate bonus. The available sources do not give a reliable spawn or catch probability, so there is no supported way to estimate how long the catch will take. The Bestiary reference also corroborates the bait listing.
Plan for a difficult reel-in: the fish page reports −90% Progress Speed. This is the central challenge described for the catch; the source does not supply a special technique that removes it. Avoid assuming a particular rod will make the catch easy.

Rod choice: do not count on the Challenger’s Rod passive
The Challenger’s Rod page lists a price of C$750,000 and stats of 110% luck, 0.2 control, 20% resilience, and 200,000 kg maximum weight. It also lists a +25% Progress Speed passive, except for fish with forced Progress Speed. Because Frozen Leviathan is listed with forced Progress Speed, do not assume that passive benefits this catch; the available evidence also does not establish the Challenger’s Rod as the best rod for it. Challenger’s Rod reference.
Catch sequence
- Reach Mariana’s Veil and descend to Challenger’s Deep, checking the live game for any access requirements you have not met.
- Equip Glimmerfin Suit Lv.2 or Winter Cloak for the cold area, as listed by the location reference.
- Fish in Challenger’s Deep. Use Truffle Worm if you have it, since it is the listed preferred bait; its use is not established as mandatory.
- When Frozen Leviathan bites, expect the reported −90% Progress Speed penalty and work through the reel-in without relying on an unsupported rod or technique claim.
Why the catch matters for progression
Frozen Leviathan is one of three Exotic fish listed as required to enter Veil of the Forsaken. The other two are Magma Leviathan and Crowned Anglerfish. If you are collecting it for access, plan for all three rather than treating Frozen Leviathan as the only requirement. Veil of the Forsaken reference.

What the in-game entry says
The community page attributes this Bestiary Entry wording to the game: “A chilling creature with icy tentacles that can freeze anything it touches. Legends say it guards the deepest parts of the ocean.” The same page currently marks the fish Exotic and was updated September 25, 2026; its mechanics and location details are player-maintained, not confirmed here by official patch notes.
