PlayStation announced the patch for October 1, 2026 globally, and October 2 in some territories; those dates have passed as of October 4, 2026. The official guidance confirms the feature but does not give its menu path or button inputs.
Choose your equipment and appearance separately
Armor and outfits have special features that work alongside charm effects. In its builds guide, PlayStation describes a system for combining those equipment features with the boons offered by charms. Equip the set that suits the gameplay combination you want; patch v2.0 then lets you keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats.

PlayStation’s patch v2.0 announcement confirms the appearance/stat option. The official material cited here does not specify the exact menu labels or controls, so a precise button-by-button route cannot be confirmed from it. The confirmed feature is an armor-set appearance override; it does not establish that every garment or cosmetic piece can be freely mixed.
Use builds to save equipment combinations
The game starts with three saved builds and lets you increase that total to five. A build is useful for keeping a preferred combination of armor or outfit features and charms together, so you can switch combinations without rebuilding them from scratch. The builds system is described in PlayStation’s Ghost of Yōtei gameplay guide.

Find other appearance rewards
Vanity Gear from sumi-e painting
Scenic sumi-e painting activities award Vanity Gear for Atsu, according to PlayStation’s Ghost of Yōtei overview. These are cosmetic rewards, separate from the armor appearance/stat option.
Sword Kits from Pillars of the Fallen
Pillars of the Fallen contain Sword Kits that change the appearance of Atsu’s blades. They customize weapons rather than armor.
