Roblox does not provide a universal brightness slider for players. If everything on your screen looks dim, adjust your device’s display brightness. If only one Roblox experience looks dark, its creator controls the world’s lighting; you can change it only if that experience offers its own setting.
First, identify what looks dim
- Everything on your screen is dim: change your display brightness in Windows or on your monitor.
- Only one Roblox experience looks dark: its lighting is set by the creator. Check that experience for a brightness or lighting option, if available.
- You want to change graphics quality: Roblox has a Graphics Quality control, but it adjusts rendering quality and performance—not global brightness.
Adjust your screen brightness in Windows
Built-in display
- Open Quick Settings by selecting the network, sound, or battery area on the Windows taskbar.
- Move the Brightness slider to the level you want. You can also open Settings > System > Display and adjust brightness there.
Windows brightness controls are available for supported built-in displays. Microsoft notes that the slider may not appear when you use an external monitor. See Microsoft’s Windows display brightness instructions.
External monitor
Use the monitor’s physical buttons or on-screen menu to adjust its brightness if Windows does not show a slider. The exact controls vary by monitor.
Change Roblox graphics quality—not brightness
- While in an experience, click the Roblox logo or press Esc to open the in-experience menu.
- Open Settings.
- Set Graphics Mode to Manual to reveal the Graphics Quality slider.
- Move the slider right for higher graphics quality or left for better performance.
Roblox describes this slider as a graphics-quality and performance control, not a brightness setting. Changing it may affect how the experience renders, but it does not provide a universal way to brighten the game world. See Roblox Support’s Graphics Quality guide and in-experience Settings and Help.

Why one experience may look darker
Roblox experience creators configure lighting for their worlds. Roblox Creator Hub documents the Lighting service and its Brightness property as part of environment setup; that is a creator-side control, not a player setting that overrides every experience. If one world is too dark, look for a setting provided by its creator or contact the experience’s creator. Roblox explains its lighting tools in Creator Hub’s Lighting and effects documentation.
App theme does not brighten the 3D world
Roblox’s Light, Dark, and System theme options change the appearance of the app interface. They do not change your device’s screen brightness or provide a global control for lighting inside experiences. See Roblox Support’s app theme instructions.
