Choose a defensive camera in the settings
Madden NFL 23 lists six defensive camera options: Standard (the default), Defensive Perspective, Wide, All-22, Broadcast, and Zoom. Open the game’s visual feedback and camera settings, then select the defensive camera option you want. EA lists the choices but does not define a tactical advantage for each, so treat them as viewing preferences rather than performance upgrades.

Adjust the view during pre-play defense
During pre-play defense, EA documents camera zoom controls for the listed platforms. Use the controls for your system:

Why the camera may seem to cycle through angles
EA labels the D-pad inputs on PS5 and Xbox Series X as “Zoom Out Camera” and “Zoom In Camera,” and its PC page lists controls for camera zoom. By contrast, Pro Game Guides’ August 20, 2022 walkthrough describes repeatedly pressing the platform controls during pre-snap as cycling through views. The descriptions differ: EA documents zoom, while the guide characterizes repeated inputs as cycling. If you want a specific baseline view, choose it in the settings rather than relying on repeated pre-play inputs to select it.

Check Camera Toggle if controls do not respond
EA lists Camera Toggle among the visual feedback settings and says turning it off enables Strategy Pad controls. If the expected camera controls do not respond, check that setting and confirm the control for your platform in EA’s documentation.
