Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf Xbox One blocks a game’s multiplayer, first check the signed-in profile’s online safety and privacy permissions. For a child or family-managed account, the family organizer may need to review or change them. If the permission is already allowed, troubleshoot the network and NAT separately; changing account settings will not fix a connection problem.
Check whether the account can change the permission
Confirm which profile is signed in and whether it is a child or family-managed account. Xbox Support identifies online safety and privacy settings as the place to manage Xbox One online permissions. A family organizer may need to review the relevant setting for a managed account. See Xbox Support’s guide to managing online safety and privacy settings.

Review the multiplayer permission
- On the Xbox One, open the signed-in account’s online safety and privacy controls or family settings.
- Find the permission related to multiplayer or joining multiplayer games, and check whether it is allowed for that profile. For a managed account, have the family organizer review the setting.
- Save or apply any permitted change, then launch the game and try multiplayer again.
Menu wording can change, and the current labels could not be confirmed from the accessible Xbox Support page. Check the options shown on your console rather than relying on a particular button name. If the account is managed, do not assume the child profile can change its own permissions.
If multiplayer is still blocked, check the connection
Account permissions and network connectivity are separate issues. If multiplayer permission is allowed but the game still cannot connect, run the Xbox network connection test and check the console’s NAT status. Follow Xbox Support’s current guidance for Xbox One network connection problems and Xbox One NAT errors. A privacy-setting change will not repair a router, NAT, or Xbox service problem.
