For routine cosmetic changes in Monster Hunter Wilds, interact with a tent at a Base Camp, then choose Appearance Menu > Change Appearance. You can edit options such as hair, eyebrows, facial hair, makeup, and clothing there without a voucher. A broader Hunter redesign requires a Character Edit Voucher through the Save Data Selection Screen, and saving the edited character consumes it.
Change appearance from a Base Camp tent
- Go to a tent at a Base Camp and interact with it.
- Open Appearance Menu, then select Change Appearance.
- Choose the Hunter or Palico options available in the menu and make your edits.
- Review the changes and confirm them.
The official Xbox store listing says hair, eyebrows, facial hair, makeup, and clothing can be changed from the tent without using a voucher: Monster Hunter Wilds on Xbox. The guide also lists Hunter options such as eyelashes, eye color, mouth, face paint, voice pitch, bearing, and underclothes. Palico options include fur pattern and color, eyes, and tail shape. Available choices depend on which character you are editing and may vary by game version.
When you need a Character Edit Voucher
The tent menu covers routine cosmetics; it is not the route for redoing the Hunter’s full character design. For a broader Hunter edit, return to the Save Data Selection Screen and choose the character-edit option using a Character Edit Voucher. The Xbox listing describes the voucher as a way to redo character creation and change an existing Hunter’s appearance and voice. The voucher is consumed when you save the edited character, so check the confirmation before committing.
The combined Character & Palico voucher add-on distinguishes the entitlements: one voucher edits the Hunter’s appearance and voice, while a separate voucher edits the Palico’s appearance; each is used up on saving. Voucher names, availability, and terms can differ by platform and storefront. The add-on listing is available from the Xbox Store.

Voucher policy: what is planned for 2026 and 2027
A September 17, 2026 GamesRadar+ report quoting the official Monster Hunter account said vouchers would be removed from sale on December 3, 2026, and that a 2027 Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance update would allow free Hunter and Palico appearance edits without vouchers. This is a reported future plan, not confirmation that the update has already launched. Check Capcom’s current announcements and your platform’s storefront before buying or relying on voucher availability. The report is at GamesRadar+.
