You usually cannot change the email address on an EA Account by simply typing a new one. EA first needs to verify that you own the account. Start by recovering the old mailbox, then try signing in with a linked PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, Apple, Facebook, or Google account. If EA offers verification on a recognized device, complete that flow. If none of those options works, contact EA Help with your EA ID, linked platform details, and purchase information.
After you regain access, go to Account Information, select Edit beside Email Address, and replace the old address. EA currently limits changing an account to a new email address to once every 30 days. An address previously used on that same account may be restorable without the same restriction.

What to do first
- Try to recover the old email account through Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, or the relevant school, work, or internet-service provider.
- Use a linked platform login on the EA Account sign-in page if you can still access PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, Apple, Facebook, or Google.
- Try EA’s recognized-device recovery option by using a device you regularly use to play EA games online, if EA presents that option.
- Contact EA Help if self-service recovery fails.
- Change the email address only after access is restored.
These are recovery routes, not guaranteed bypasses. EA may require additional ownership verification, and available options can vary by country, platform, account, and security state.

Recovering the original email account is normally the fastest solution. EA’s account-information process may send a verification code to an existing email or other verification method, so restoring access to the mailbox can let you complete the change without a support case.

Use the email provider’s official recovery page. Depending on the provider, recovery may involve:
- A password reset
- An alternate email address or phone number
- Security questions or identity verification
- Recovery codes
- Help from a school or work mail administrator
If the address belonged to a former employer, school, or organization, contact that organization’s administrator. Do not give your EA password or verification codes to anyone claiming they can recover the account for you.
If the original EA Account contains games, purchases, downloadable content, saved online progress, or linked platform accounts, avoid creating a second EA Account as a workaround. A new account does not automatically inherit those entitlements or links. Recovering the original account is generally the appropriate route.
2. Sign in through a linked platform account
If you can still access the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, Apple, Facebook, or Google account linked to your EA Account, try that account’s sign-in button on the EA Account login page.
- Open the EA website and choose the account sign-in option.
- Select the icon for the platform or service you normally use.
- Authenticate with that platform account.
- If the sign-in succeeds, open your EA account information and check whether you can update the email address.

A successful platform login is useful only if that platform is linked to the EA Account you are trying to recover. If it opens a different EA Account, or if the platform authentication fails, do not assume that unlinking it will solve the problem. EA applies restrictions to account linking and platform switching; some platforms may allow linking only once. Check EA’s account-linking troubleshooting guidance before making any change.

3. Try recognized-device verification
EA may offer identity verification through a recognized device: a computer or console that you use regularly. The documented route is to use that device, launch an EA game with online features, and follow any verification prompts EA displays.
This option is conditional. It may not appear for every account or on every attempt, so it is not a guaranteed way to bypass the old email address. If the prompt does not appear, proceed to the other recovery options rather than repeatedly changing account or platform settings.

4. Contact EA Help if you still cannot get in
If you cannot recover the mailbox, sign in through a linked platform, or complete recognized-device verification, open an account-recovery case through EA Help. Explain that you no longer have access to the email address attached to the EA Account and want to recover the existing account and update its email.
Prepare as much of the following information as you can:

- Usernames associated with linked services
- Your PlayStation Network Online ID or Xbox Live Gamertag, if applicable
- Your Steam, Apple, Facebook, or Google account details where relevant
- Invoice numbers from EA purchases
- Purchase dates, platform information, and proof of purchase or product codes
- The date and approximate time the access problem began
- Exact error messages
- Screenshots that help explain the problem
These details help EA investigate ownership, but they do not guarantee that the account can be recovered. EA’s public guidance does not promise a fixed response time or successful restoration in every case.

Hello, I cannot access the email address currently attached to my EA Account and need help recovering the account and changing the email. My EA ID is [EA ID]. The original email was [old email]. My linked platform is [platform] and my platform ID is [ID]. I can provide proof of purchase, invoice numbers, or other account details. The problem began on [date], and I have already tried [steps]. Please tell me what information is needed to verify ownership.
5. Change the EA email after you recover the account
Once you can sign in:
- Open your EA Account settings.
- Go to Account Information.
- Find Email Address.
- Select Edit.
- Enter the secure email address you want to keep.
- Complete any identity or verification prompts EA shows.
Choose an address you expect to control for the long term. A personal address is usually more dependable than a temporary school or work address that may be disabled later.
EA currently limits changing the account to a new email address to once every 30 days. According to EA’s account-information guidance, an email address that was previously associated with that same account can be restored without the same restriction. This does not mean that any unrelated address can be changed without verification.

If your EA email was changed by someone else
If the email changed without your permission, or games, packs, tokens, coins, or other content disappeared, treat this as a potentially hacked account rather than an ordinary email update.
- Try signing in through the platform where you normally play.
- Check whether your games and other content are still present.
- Contact EA if you cannot sign in or content is missing.
- Provide the original email address, EA ID, linked platform IDs, invoices, product codes, and other ownership details requested by support.
EA says that if the account email was changed within the previous 30 days, an advisor may not be able to replace it with a completely new address during that period. The advisor may, however, be able to restore an older email address previously associated with the account. Missing content after a compromise may not always be recoverable.

Secure the account after recovery
After regaining access, immediately:
- Change the EA Account password to a unique password that you do not reuse elsewhere.
- Review connected accounts and remove anything unfamiliar.
- Review trusted devices and remove devices you do not recognize.
- Enable two-factor authentication.
- Save EA backup codes somewhere secure and offline if possible.
EA supports email, authenticator-app, and text-message two-factor authentication. EA states that backup codes are the only way to sign in from a new device when the selected verification method is unavailable, so do not leave them only on a device or mailbox you might lose access to.

I know my EA ID, but not the old email
Your EA ID alone may not be enough to change the email. Try a linked-platform login or recognized-device verification first. If you can enter the account but see only a partially masked email address, EA provides instructions for finding account-email information through EA.com, the EA app, or connected platform access. If you still cannot access the mailbox, contact EA Help with the EA ID and ownership information.

I can still play on console, but I cannot access EA.com
Try the console-linked account sign-in button on EA’s login page. You can also try the recognized-device flow from the console or another regularly used device if EA displays it. Do not unlink the console account simply to start over; doing so can create additional linking problems.

I have two-factor authentication enabled, but lost the verification method
Use an EA backup code if you saved one. EA says backup codes are the only way to sign in from a new device when the selected verification method is inaccessible. If you have no backup code, try a recognized device or contact EA Help.
Can EA Support change the email immediately?
Not necessarily. EA may require identity verification, and a new-email change is subject to the 30-day limit. If the account was recently changed or compromised, EA may be able to restore a previously used address while being unable to immediately set a completely new one.
What not to do
- Do not share passwords, verification codes, passkeys, or backup codes. EA warns users not to share sensitive sign-in information.
- Do not create a second account expecting it to inherit your games or progress. Account entitlements and platform links do not automatically transfer.
- Do not repeatedly unlink and relink platforms. Linking restrictions can make recovery more complicated.
- Do not pay unofficial “EA recovery” services. Use EA Help and its official recovery process instead.
- Do not provide credentials to people who contact you privately. Legitimate recovery should not require handing your password or security codes to another person.

If those fail, contact EA Help with detailed ownership evidence. Once access is restored, update the email from Account Information and secure the account with a unique password, two-factor authentication, and safely stored backup codes.
