Epic Games accounts also do not support custom profile pictures or avatars, so there is no Epic account picture you can set as a workaround.
Rocket League’s in-game avatar cannot be changed on the Epic Games Store version

Your Epic account profile icon is separate
Epic Games accounts do not currently have a custom profile-picture or avatar feature, according to Epic Games Store Support. Epic’s profile-icon guidance says the account icon shows the first letter of your registered display name and cannot currently be changed.
Changing your display name does not set a picture
Rocket League has instructions for changing your display name through the relevant Epic or platform account settings, but those instructions do not offer a profile-picture change: How do I change my Rocket League display name? Changing the name is a separate account action, not a documented way to choose a custom image.

What if you mean your console or Steam picture?
Rocket League supports play across Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Epic’s guidance does not establish whether a console or Steam profile image appears in the game, or explain how to change one there. If you mean the picture on a console or Steam account, use that platform’s profile settings; do not assume that changing it will change the Epic Games Store version’s in-game avatar.
