Choose Change Display Name for a free name change, or Change Username to change the unique account identifier for Robux. Neither option changes your Xbox gamertag.
Which Roblox name do you want to change?
Roblox has two account names, and the rules differ. An Xbox gamertag is a separate Xbox profile name.

Change your Roblox display name
- Sign in to Roblox in a web browser or the mobile app.
- Open Settings and select Account Info.
- Select Change Display Name. Depending on the label shown, this control may appear as Name.
- Enter the name you want and save your change.
- Refresh Roblox to see the display name shown separately from your username.
Roblox allows a display-name change once every seven days at no charge. The name must follow Roblox’s Community Rules and Terms of Use; Roblox may reset a violating display name to your username.

Change your Roblox username
- Sign in to Roblox in a web browser or the mobile app.
- Go to Settings > Account Info.
- Select Change Username.
- Enter the new username and your current Roblox password.
- Select Buy to complete the Robux purchase flow.
Roblox requires Robux for each username change, but its support instructions do not establish a current amount; check the amount shown in the purchase flow. You can’t take a username held by another account or swap usernames with an alternate account. A capitalization-only change does not qualify for a discount. Your account creation date carries over, and other users may still be able to see your previous usernames.
What happens when you sign in on Xbox?
The Roblox Xbox app offers options to create an account, sign in, or select the Xbox gamertag for the signed-in profile. Choosing Sign In links an existing Roblox account to that Xbox profile; it does not rename either account. Roblox documents account linking separately from username and display-name changes. Some Roblox features are not available on Xbox. For example, Roblox directs users to PC/Mac or mobile for activities such as adding Roblox friends. Its Xbox feature guide describes those platform limitations. If you’re using an Xbox child account, a parent must grant permission in the Xbox Family account before the Roblox app can launch.

If you need the unique username to sign in, Roblox has a recovery guide: I Forgot My Username. A display name is not a substitute for the username used as the account sign-in identifier.
