If you spot a PlayStation charge you don’t recognize, first check Transaction History for every PlayStation account linked to that payment method. Then secure the account if needed and request help through PlayStation Support. A refund is not automatic: the applicable rules depend on the purchase type and your account region.
Check PlayStation Transaction History
Start with the transaction itself before treating a bank or card entry as fraud. PlayStation’s transaction guide says the default web history view covers the previous two years. The guide is for UK support, and interface details can vary by region.

These navigation steps are from PlayStation’s transaction-history guide.
Rule out common explanations
A charge that looks unfamiliar may come from a subscription renewal, a child account, or a duplicate purchase. Check subscription settings and compare the transaction details with your recent purchases. If the same payment method is linked to more than one PlayStation account, inspect each account’s history.

- Recurring subscription: Look for a subscription fee or renewal that matches the amount and date.
- Child account purchase: Under the US terms, child accounts do not have separate wallets; purchases by associated child accounts use the family manager’s wallet. See PlayStation’s US Terms of Service.
- Duplicate purchase: Check whether the same game, add-on, or other content appears more than once.
Secure your account if someone else may have access
If you received an account-change email you did not initiate, PlayStation says someone else may be trying to access your account. Change your email account password first, then follow the account recovery guide. If you cannot change your sign-in method or regain access, contact PlayStation Support.
If a payment appears to be for someone who does not have a PlayStation account, PlayStation advises contacting support as soon as possible and changing the email password immediately. If your console was stolen, sign out on all devices, deactivate consoles, and consider removing payment methods. If you cannot access the account, contact support promptly. These steps are outlined in PlayStation’s unauthorized-payment and compromised-account guidance.

Request a refund or report an unauthorized charge
For a US PlayStation Store purchase, use PlayStation’s refund page or contact PlayStation Support. Some transactions show a refund request option in Transaction History. If it does not appear, PlayStation says you can still contact support. Have your Online ID, sign-in email address, and the name of the purchase ready.
For a charge you believe was made without consent, use PlayStation’s unauthorized-transactions support route. A refund request is a request for review, not a guarantee of reimbursement. The cited refund channels and rules are for the US; account-region policies may differ.

Know which refund rules apply
PlayStation’s US cancellation policy sets separate conditions for different purchase types. It says subscription purchases may be cancelled and a refund requested within 14 days of the initial transaction date, even if the service has been used; the refund may be reduced pro rata to account for service already received. This is a request window, not a promise of a full refund.
Other purchase categories have their own conditions. The US Terms of Service state that PlayStation Store purchases are generally final except where the terms or the current cancellation policy provide otherwise. The cancellation policy does not cover retailer gift cards or vouchers. Check the US PlayStation Store Cancellation Policy for the category and circumstances that match your purchase.

Think carefully before requesting a chargeback
A chargeback is a payment reversal requested from your financial institution. PlayStation says it may suspend an account or console while it investigates a chargeback, because it can indicate suspected fraud or account takeover. If PlayStation finds no lawful basis for the reversal, it says the account may remain suspended until the debt is repaid. That platform consequence does not determine your legal rights or whether a chargeback is appropriate in your circumstances. If you suspect an unauthorized PlayStation purchase, PlayStation directs customers to its unauthorized-transactions support route first.
