Check the Steam Deck compatibility rating for each individual game—not for the Humble Bundle as a whole. In Steam, find the title in your Library or on its Store page, then open its Steam Deck compatibility details. Verified is the clearest pass; Playable may require setup, and Unknown means Valve has not completed its review.
The fastest useful check is the game-specific badge, but the details matter: they explain whether a Playable title needs a controller change, on-screen keyboard, or touchscreen input. If you are comparing bundle games, check and record each one separately.

Check each game’s Steam Deck rating
- Identify the exact game. A bundle may contain several titles, and each title has its own compatibility result. A rating for one game says nothing about the others. If a listing gives a subtitle, edition, or distinct game title, use the precise title rather than relying on the bundle name.
- Look in your Steam Library if the game is there. Open the game’s Library page on Steam Deck and inspect its Steam Deck compatibility information. Valve also says you can filter the Deck library by compatibility rating. A filter can help you review a collection, but it does not replace checking the individual title’s detail panel.
- Otherwise, check the Steam Store page. Find the exact title in the Steam Store and look for the Steam Deck compatibility section on its details page. Valve publishes ratings in both the Store and Library, and the rating details can explain what to expect. Make sure you have the intended game’s page, not another title with a similar name.
- Read the detail view, not just the badge. This matters especially when the status is Playable or Unknown. For Playable, the details can identify required manual steps; for Unknown, there is no completed review to interpret.
- Repeat for every bundle game you care about. Record the rating and any listed setup requirements for each title separately. If you are assessing several games at once, note the date you checked them so you know when to recheck a result that may have changed.
This workflow applies when the game can be added to your Steam library. The method of obtaining a particular Humble Bundle item depends on that item; do not assume every bundle game is supplied as a Steam key. If you are checking a title you have not added to Steam, use its exact Steam Store listing. If you cannot find the exact title there, the Steam rating workflow cannot establish its Deck compatibility.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesKeep the two parts of the question distinct. First establish whether the specific Humble item can be added to Steam; then check the Steam Deck rating for that game. A Steam compatibility result does not tell you what format a Humble item is delivered in, and the name of a bundle does not have its own Deck rating.

What each Steam Deck rating means
| Rating | What it tells you | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Verified | Valve says the game passes all compatibility checks, with no configuration work required to access all game functionality. | The strongest positive result in this rating system. It is a certification result, not a promise that every graphics setting, later update, or individual play session will perform identically. |
| Playable | The game functions on Deck but may need user action or configuration. | Open the details and identify the specific action. Examples Valve gives include choosing a community controller configuration, opening the on-screen keyboard, or using the touchscreen to navigate a launcher. |
| Unsupported | Valve’s definition says the game does not function on the device because of Proton or a specific hardware incompatibility. | Read this as a negative compatibility result, not as a statement that the game disappears from your Steam account or library. |
| Unknown | The game has not completed Valve’s compatibility review, so information about how it will play on the device is unavailable. | Treat it as inconclusive. It is neither a pass nor a failure, and it does not tell you how much setup the game might need. |
Valve’s definitions and ratings describe its current review information. A label can help you decide what to investigate, but the detail panel is the useful part when the rating is not a straightforward Verified result. The labels are not interchangeable: Playable is a reviewed finding that the game functions with possible user action, while Unknown says Valve has not completed its review.
Verified is also more specific than “it launched once.” Valve defines it as passing all compatibility checks without configuration work being required to access all game functionality. That makes it a stronger standard than merely opening a game, but it remains a review classification rather than a universal guarantee about every setting, update, or future change.
How to evaluate a Playable or Unknown game
For a Playable rating
Read the listed notes and translate them into a practical setup checklist before you start. A controller-configuration note means the default controls may not be the configuration you want. A text-entry note means you may need to bring up the on-screen keyboard. A launcher note may mean using the touchscreen for a part of the startup or navigation flow. These are examples of possible manual work, not requirements for every Playable game.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteSeparate “the game functions” from “the game is ready with no intervention.” Playable means the former, not the latter. The details determine whether the listed workaround is minor for your use or a meaningful obstacle. If the panel does not specify a particular manual step, do not infer one from the Playable label alone.
For example, if the note concerns text entry, ask whether the game’s normal setup or play flow requires you to enter text and whether you are comfortable opening the on-screen keyboard when needed. If the note concerns a launcher, consider whether navigating it by touchscreen is acceptable to you. If it concerns controller configuration, treat that as a control setup task rather than proof that the game cannot be played. These examples explain how to read the listed notes; the detail panel for the particular title determines what applies.
When comparing two Playable games, do not rank them only by the shared badge. One may ask for a controller change while another may require touchscreen navigation or keyboard input. The specific listed action—and whether it affects something you need to do—makes the comparison useful.
For an Unknown rating
Unknown means Valve has not completed the compatibility review. It gives you no official answer about how the game will play on Deck, so do not count it as a pass simply because the game appears in Steam, nor as a confirmed failure simply because information is absent. The rating is a statement about review status, not a test result.

If you need an official compatibility indication before deciding whether to play, Unknown does not provide one. You can still distinguish the unknown status from an Unsupported finding: one says the review information is unavailable, while the other is Valve’s stated result that the game does not function on the device for a compatibility reason.
An Unknown badge therefore calls for a different decision from a Playable badge. With Playable, Valve has a result and may list the manual work involved. With Unknown, there is no completed rating detail to use as an official estimate. If certainty is important to your decision, do not turn the absence of a review into an assumed pass; treat the question as unanswered and check the current listing again later if needed.
What Valve checks before awarding Verified
Verified is a broader standard than “the game launches.” Valve’s Steamworks compatibility checklist covers the interaction and presentation needed to access the game’s functionality on Deck. Its criteria include:
- Physical controller support.
- Access to all content using the default controller configuration.
- Appropriate controller glyphs.
- Usable text entry.
- Playable default performance.
- Launcher navigation.
- Resolution support.
- Readable interface text.
Valve specifies 30 frames per second at 800p as a Deck performance criterion for Verified. It also specifies a minimum interface-font height of 9 pixels at 1280×800. These are certification requirements, not a general performance guarantee that every game will hold 30 fps at every resolution, graphics setting, or point in gameplay. The interface-font requirement is likewise a standard for review, not a prediction about how every screen or user-selected display setting will look.
Those criteria help explain why an apparently simple “does it run?” question can have more than one answer. A game might launch, yet still require a control change or a touchscreen interaction that affects how it is classified. Controller access, text entry, launcher navigation, default performance, resolution support, and legibility all form part of Valve’s review rather than being reduced to the operating system a game was built for.
A game can miss one or more Verified criteria and still be Playable. That is why a non-Verified badge should not automatically be read as “cannot run”: check whether the actual result is Playable, Unsupported, or Unknown, and use the details for any manual steps. Likewise, the 30 fps at 800p threshold should not be used to promise a particular frame rate under settings or circumstances that Valve’s certification threshold does not cover.
Why the operating-system label does not settle compatibility
Steam Deck uses a Linux-based system, but a game does not need a native Linux build to work on it. Windows games can run through Proton, Valve’s compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux-based Steam hardware. The fact that a title is described as Windows-only therefore does not by itself establish that it will fail on Deck.

Nor does a Windows or Linux build alone answer whether the experience meets Valve’s Deck criteria. Valve’s Proton documentation notes that problems can arise from unsupported middleware or Windows functionality that Proton has not fully implemented. Some anti-cheat middleware also requires configuration by the game developer. A game’s compatibility depends on the interaction between the game, its components, Proton, and Deck hardware—not just the operating-system label on the store listing.
This is why the title-specific Steam rating is a better first check than guessing from a system-requirements line. A Windows-only label does not establish failure, while a Linux build does not by itself show that the game meets the full Deck review criteria. The rating and its details address the Deck experience more directly than either label alone.
Valve’s compatibility rating is a review result rather than a permanent guarantee. Games, Proton, and Valve’s review information can change. If the rating matters to a decision you are making later, check the current Store or Library details rather than relying on an old status or a remembered result.
Compare several games in one bundle
There is no single compatibility verdict for a bundle: compare its games title by title. A compact comparison helps prevent one strong rating from being mistaken for a result that applies to every included game.
| Game | Current Deck rating | Manual steps in rating details | Launcher, text entry, or controller notes | Review status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enter the exact title | Copy the current rating | Note listed actions, or “none listed” | Record only what the details state | For Unknown, note that the review is incomplete |
| Enter the next exact title | Check its own Store or Library page | Read this title’s details separately | Do not carry over another game’s notes | Interpret its own status |
When comparing, use four questions: What is each game’s current badge? What manual steps does its detail panel list? Does the panel flag launcher navigation, text entry, or controller setup? Is the rating Unknown, meaning there is no completed compatibility review? These points are more informative than assuming two games will behave alike because they came in the same bundle or share an operating-system label.

A practical comparison can be as short as one row per game. Write down the exact title, current badge, any listed actions, and whether the review is complete. For a Playable result, record the actual manual work rather than simply copying the word “Playable.” For Unknown, explicitly note that no completed review is available. This avoids conflating missing information with a negative result.
Use the comparison to answer your own practical question, not to create a new universal score. A touchscreen step may be trivial for one player and inconvenient for another; a controller configuration may be acceptable or not depending on the game and the player’s preferences. Valve’s listed details give you the inputs for that judgment, but they do not establish which workaround matters most to you.

Availability is separate from compatibility
The compatibility rating affects how a Steam title is presented; it does not, by itself, remove that title from the Deck Store or the user’s Library. An Unsupported or Unknown badge is therefore not a statement that you cannot see the game in your library. Keep the two questions separate: whether Steam lists the game as compatible with Deck, and whether the game is present in your account.
For Humble Bundle items, first establish what the specific item provides and whether it can be added to Steam. The Deck-rating check answers how Valve currently classifies a Steam title; it does not verify a Humble redemption method or tell you what delivery format a particular bundle item uses.

If you do not see a title in your Steam Library, that alone does not answer whether it is compatible; it may simply not be in that account. The Store-page route can provide the compatibility section for the exact Steam title even before you have added it. Conversely, a rating shown for a Steam title does not prove that a particular Humble bundle item is redeemable as that title in Steam.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A quick decision guide
- Verified: Valve’s checks passed without configuration work being required for access to all game functionality.
- Playable: The game functions, but inspect the detail panel and decide whether its listed manual steps are acceptable.
- Unsupported: Valve’s result is that the game does not function on the device because of Proton or hardware incompatibility.
- Unknown: No completed review is available, so the rating cannot answer whether the game will work for you.
For a bundle with mixed results, make the decision per title. A Verified rating for one game cannot certify another, and an Unknown result should remain unknown rather than being converted into a presumed pass or failure.
If a title is Playable, base your next step on the detail notes. If it is Unknown, recognize that the official check has not answered the question. If it is Unsupported, understand that as Valve’s stated negative result, while keeping in mind that the badge does not itself remove the title from your account or the Deck Store. These distinctions let you interpret the current result without overreading it.
Sources and scope
Valve’s Steamworks compatibility documentation and Proton documentation describe the rating criteria and compatibility context. Valve’s pages were accessed on October 9, 2026; no publication date was shown. The Steam Deck compatibility guidance is written for Steam hardware and Steamworks, rather than specifically for Humble Bundle purchases. The rating workflow above concerns a game that can be added to Steam and does not cover Humble-specific redemption instructions.
The technical figures cited here—30 fps at 800p and a minimum 9-pixel interface font at 1280×800—are Valve certification criteria, not market statistics or blanket performance promises. Use the Store or Library rating details for the specific game you are checking, because the current title-specific result is what informs the Deck compatibility question.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check whether a Humble Bundle game works on Steam Deck?
Identify the exact game, then check its Steam Deck compatibility information in the Steam Library or on the Steam Store page. Open the detail view, especially if the badge is Playable or Unknown. Repeat the check for each game in the bundle.
Does a Humble Bundle have one Steam Deck compatibility rating?
No. The rating is specific to an individual Steam game. A result for one title does not establish compatibility for the other games in the bundle.
Does Playable mean a game works without setup?
No. Playable means the game functions but may require user action. Valve’s examples include selecting a community controller configuration, opening the on-screen keyboard, or using the touchscreen to navigate a launcher. Read the title’s detail panel to see which actions apply.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Does Unknown mean the game is unsupported?
No. Unknown means Valve has not completed its compatibility review and has not published information about how the game will play on Deck. It is inconclusive, not a pass or a confirmed failure.
Can a Windows-only game work on Steam Deck?
Yes. Windows games can run through Proton, Valve’s compatibility layer for Windows games on Linux-based Steam hardware. A Windows-only label alone does not determine compatibility; check the title’s current Steam Deck rating and details.
Does an Unsupported rating remove a game from my Steam Library?
No. The compatibility rating affects how a Steam title is presented; it does not by itself remove the title from the Deck Store or your Library.
Does Verified guarantee 30 fps in every game or setting?
No. Valve specifies 30 fps at 800p as a performance criterion for Verified, but that is a certification threshold rather than a promise about every setting, resolution, or gameplay situation.
The Bottom Line
Check the exact Steam title, open its current Deck compatibility details, and repeat for every game in the Humble Bundle. Verified is the strongest positive result; Playable calls for checking its manual steps, while Unknown means Valve’s review is incomplete.
