How to Check Whether a New Game Is Included with PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass, or Nintendo Switch Online

Find out whether a new game is included with your subscription by checking the official catalog, matching your plan and platform, and confirming regional availability and status.

To find out whether a game is included with your subscription, search the service’s official catalog and verify the membership tier, platform, region, and current availability status. A search result alone is not enough: each service separates games into different access categories, and catalogs change over time.

What to check before deciding a game is included

  • Membership tier: Confirm that your plan includes the catalog, game category, or DLC you found.
  • Platform: Check that the listing supports the console or device you use.
  • Region: Catalogs and availability can differ by country or region.
  • Status and timing: Distinguish a game that is available now from one that is coming soon or leaving.

The official pages below are US-facing or, for Nintendo support, intended for the Americas. Use your own regional service page or console to confirm local availability. The sources do not establish whether any specific game is included; that depends on the live listing.

Check PlayStation Plus

Search the official game finder

  1. Open the PlayStation Plus games A–Z catalog and game finder.
  2. Search the game title, then note which category lists it: Monthly Games, Game Catalog, Classics Catalog, or a trial.
  3. Confirm that your plan includes that category, and check the PlayStation Plus hub on your console for the full list available in your country or region.

Match the listing to your plan

PlayStation Plus separates access by category. Essential includes the monthly selection; Extra adds the Game Catalog; Premium adds the Classics Catalog and trials. Premium also allows streaming of many catalog and classic titles, though streaming availability depends on the title and region.

Monthly Games work differently from the rotating catalogs: claim a game during its availability period, and it remains playable while your membership is active. PlayStation describes them as “games available for you to download and play at no extra cost during your PlayStation Plus membership.” See Sony’s guide to accessing PlayStation Plus games for the console steps.

  • Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)

Check Xbox Game Pass

Search and filter the catalog

  1. Open the Xbox Game Pass games page and search for the title.
  2. Set the subscription and platform filters to match your membership and the device you intend to play on.
  3. Check whether the game appears under Recently added, Coming to Game Pass, or Leaving soon.

Those status groupings help distinguish a current catalog listing from an announced arrival or departure. A game marked Coming to Game Pass is not necessarily playable yet; one marked Leaving soon may stop being included. Xbox may show a member discount for titles leaving soon, but verify the live listing before deciding whether to buy.

Check Nintendo Switch Online

First identify what “included” means

Nintendo Switch Online is primarily a library of classic games in the pages covered here, with selected game DLC included in some memberships. Standard membership provides selected NES, Super NES, and Game Boy classics. Expansion Pack adds additional classic-game libraries and selected DLC. Some libraries depend on the hardware: Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics, for example, requires Switch 2 and an Expansion Pack membership.

For included DLC, check the conditions for that particular offer. Some DLC requires you to own the full base game as well as an active qualifying membership; a DLC benefit is not the same as access to the base game.

Open the library on your system

  1. Nintendo Switch: Open Nintendo eShop using a user with an active membership. Select Nintendo Switch Online, then choose the relevant classic-game library.
  2. Nintendo Switch 2: From HOME, open Nintendo Switch Online, select Nintendo Classics, then choose the relevant library.

Nintendo’s instructions are in How to Access the Nintendo Classics Game Libraries. For membership, console, and DLC conditions, consult Nintendo’s Expansion Pack overview and Nintendo Classics overview and FAQ.

Use the right check for the service

Service What to inspect Important distinction
PlayStation Plus Category, membership plan, console hub, and region Monthly Games are claimed during their offer period; Game Catalog and Classics Catalog access depend on tier and may rotate.
Xbox Game Pass Subscription and platform filters, plus status collections Recently added, Coming to Game Pass, and Leaving soon indicate different availability timing.
Nintendo Switch Online Classic library or DLC, membership tier, hardware, and base-game requirement where applicable Classic-game access and selected DLC are distinct benefits; some libraries require Switch 2.

If the game does not appear

  • Recheck the exact title and its spelling in the official catalog.
  • Adjust platform and subscription filters to match your device and plan.
  • For PlayStation, check the console’s regional PlayStation Plus hub rather than relying only on the general games page.
  • For Nintendo, make sure you are opening the correct classics library and that the account has the required active membership.
  • Check the listing’s status and date again before purchasing or subscribing, since availability can change.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
