To find out whether a PlayStation game is exclusive or also available on Xbox or PC, check the exact game and edition in official storefronts, then confirm any missing or upcoming listings against a dated announcement from its publisher or platform holder. Record the platforms and region you checked, and treat “exclusive” as a description of a particular release at a particular time—not proof that a game will never come to another platform.
Check official listings for the exact game and edition
- Start with the official PlayStation game page. Confirm the title, edition, and console generation shown. A PlayStation listing confirms PlayStation availability; it does not establish that the game is exclusive.
- Search the relevant Xbox storefront. Check the Xbox listing for the same game and edition, including the console generation or Xbox PC availability stated on the page. Do not infer Xbox availability from a PC listing, or the reverse.
- Check PC storefronts separately. Search Steam and the Epic Games Store, and use the official PlayStation PC catalogue as another publisher-maintained source for PlayStation Studios PC releases. It links to Steam and Epic Games Store listings for its PC games.
- Compare like with like. Note whether each result is for the same edition, region, and platform. A listing for one edition or region does not necessarily establish availability for another.
Use storefronts to confirm what is listed now. If a game is upcoming, or a storefront has no result, look for a dated announcement from the developer, publisher, or platform holder before drawing a conclusion.
Read “exclusive” with its platform scope and date
An exclusivity statement should be read in context: which platform it names, what release it describes, and when the statement was made. On April 30, 2026, Sony Interactive Entertainment described SAROS as launching worldwide exclusively on PlayStation 5. That supports a dated claim about its PS5 launch, not a general rule about every PlayStation-associated game.
Later platform releases can change the picture. On March 19, 2026, Kojima Productions’ Jay Boor announced the PC release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach through Steam and the Epic Games Store. A game can therefore have a PlayStation-focused release history and later be available on PC. When checking a particular title, report what its official listings or announcements establish as of the date you checked; if you found no listing elsewhere, say that rather than claiming permanent exclusivity.

Use announcements to verify release plans and platform scope
A dated announcement is useful when a store page is missing or a release has not yet arrived. Check whether the announcement describes a current release or a planned one, and preserve its date and named platforms.
For example, Xbox Wire’s May 5, 2025 announcement for Gears of War: Reloaded named Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam, with an August 26, 2025 launch date. Those platform details are more useful than a broad label such as “PlayStation game.” A PlayStation.Blog post about Luma Island, dated September 24, 2026, likewise said the game was coming to PS5 and described cross-platform play across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A game appearing on PlayStation’s own blog is not, by itself, evidence of PlayStation exclusivity.

Separate platform availability from cross-play and ownership
Finding the same game on more than one platform answers where it is available, not whether players on those systems can play together or share purchases and progress. Confirm each feature in the game’s official product information or support notes.
- Cross-play: Whether players on different platforms can play together. Xbox Wire separately confirmed cross-play for Gears of War: Reloaded.
- Cross-progression or save transfer: Whether progress carries between platforms. The same Xbox Wire announcement separately confirmed cross-progression for Gears of War: Reloaded; do not assume another game offers it.
- Cross-buy or ownership: Whether buying one platform’s version entitles you to another version. PlayStation’s PC Games FAQ says PC and console versions are different products: purchasing the PC version does not let you play it on PS4 or PS5, or vice versa.
PlayStation also says save transfer between the PC and PS4/PS5 versions of PlayStation Studios games is currently unavailable. Check the game’s own notes for any different or newer policy.

Check account requirements and PC-specific features
Availability does not guarantee that every version works the same way. PlayStation’s PC Games FAQ notes that some PC games require a PlayStation Network account for certain modes or features. Check the specific game’s listing and support information before buying if an account requirement matters to you.
Controller support can vary too. PlayStation says DualSense works with PlayStation Studios PC games over a wired connection, while support for its specific features and wireless connectivity varies by title. The PlayStation PC catalogue identifies PC titles and storefront links; consult the individual game’s page for its requirements and feature details.

Make the result useful and time-bounded
For a reliable answer about a specific game, keep a short record of what you checked:
- The exact title and edition.
- The official storefronts or publisher/platform announcements checked.
- The platforms named, including console generation and PC storefront where stated.
- The region and date of the check.
- Any separately confirmed cross-play, cross-progression, ownership, or account requirements.
Store listings and future platform plans can change. Recheck the relevant official pages close to the time you need the answer, especially for an upcoming release or a claim that a game is exclusive.
