This guide assumes “PS5-on-PC project” means AnyPS5. Its documentation describes a relinker and host-side implementations of console system libraries for porting PS5 executables to Windows and Linux; it is more precise to use that terminology than to call it a conventional emulator.

Use AnyPS5’s compatibility table, not a general progress page
The reliable starting point is the current tested-game compatibility table referenced by the AnyPS5 README. The README specifically directs users to that list for tested games and known issues. A video, a screenshot, a project milestone, or a game’s “PS5” label cannot answer the title-specific question as reliably as the row for that game.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteCompatibility entries are reports of particular tests. They can change as AnyPS5, its game reports, operating-system support and game patches change. Treat an entry as evidence about the recorded combination of title, platform, build and computer—not as a guarantee for every release or PC.

Step-by-step: check a game
- Open the current AnyPS5 tested compatibility table. Use the table linked from the project’s README, where tested games and known issues are collected.
- Search for the exact game title. Check spelling, subtitle, edition and region. A similarly named remaster, demo, deluxe edition or sequel may have a different executable and a different result.
- Match the PlayStation 5 title ID. If the table shows a title ID, compare it with the ID for your copy. This is the best way to separate games whose names are nearly identical.
- Read the row for your operating system. Windows and Linux are separate results. A Windows status does not imply that the Linux path works, and a Linux question mark does not describe Windows performance.
- Read the status wording exactly. Note whether the report says the game launches, reaches an entry point, renders a frame, reaches gameplay or is marked playable. These milestones have different meanings.
- Open the linked game report or known-issues section. Look for crashes, freezes, missing audio, rendering defects, broken menus, input problems, required patches and special setup instructions.
- Compare the test context with your planned setup. Record the AnyPS5 build, game patch and any special configuration in the report, then compare its operating system, processor, graphics hardware and measured frame rate with your PC.
- Check the date and project version before deciding. A result from an older build may no longer describe the current release. Conversely, a new project build may not have retested every previously listed title.
Keep a small compatibility record
When you find a useful entry, copy its title ID, exact status, operating system, report date, AnyPS5 build, game patch, test hardware and linked issue notes into your own notes. This prevents a common mistake: remembering only that a game “worked” while forgetting that it was tested on Windows, on a different patch, or only to the first scene. Recording the details also makes a later recheck faster when the table changes.
If several reports exist for one title, compare them rather than choosing the newest-looking frame-rate number. A newer report may test a different operating system or edition. A report with a lower frame rate can still be more relevant if its processor, graphics device and game build match your computer more closely.
What the compatibility statuses actually tell you
A status is a progress description, not a universal quality rating. Read the milestone as a statement about what the project reached during the recorded test.
Launch or entry-point success
If a report says that a title launches or reaches an entry point, the executable got far enough to begin running. That does not establish that menus, loading screens, graphics, sound, saving or gameplay work correctly.
First rendered frame
Rendering a frame confirms that some graphics path is functioning. It does not prove that the full game renders correctly, that shaders are complete, or that a player can progress beyond the opening scene.
Reaching gameplay
A gameplay milestone is stronger than a launch result because the test passed the initial startup sequence. You still need to read the report for crashes later in the game, broken cut-scenes, missing effects, input failures and save or loading problems.
“In game, playable”
When the project labels a title “In game, playable,” that is the clearest positive status in the listed example. It remains a project-reported result for the tested build and machine, not a promise of identical behavior on every computer or future version.

Why technical progress is not the same as compatibility
Low-level progress can be easy to overread. Recognizing a shader instruction or getting a window to appear demonstrates that one part of the software path is being handled; it does not establish that every system library, rendering effect, audio path, input function and save operation required by the game works. This is why a per-title status and its issue report are more useful than a general claim that the project supports a particular class of instructions.
Why platform, build and hardware must be read together
Three details determine how much weight to give a result: the host operating system, the versions tested and the computer used.
Operating system is part of compatibility
AnyPS5 documentation describes Windows and Linux as host targets. A title may work on one and fail, remain untested or show a different status on the other. Always treat the platform label as part of the result rather than as an incidental note.
Build and patch context can change the result
Reports may identify an AnyPS5 build, a game patch or a special setup. A game executable can change after an update, and project fixes can alter behavior without changing the game name. If your copy or AnyPS5 build differs from the report, use the entry as a useful lead, not as a reproducible guarantee.

Test hardware is evidence, not a minimum specification
CPU and GPU figures in a row describe the machine used for that test. They are not a general minimum requirement for AnyPS5, a recommended purchase list or a prediction for another title. A lightweight game may run well on an older computer while a technically different title may not start on a faster one.
How to read frame-rate numbers
A reported FPS value is an observation from the stated test, not a promise of a locked frame rate. It may reflect a particular scene, resolution, graphics setting and driver environment. Unless the report explains those conditions, use the number to compare the listed tests with each other, not to calculate a universal requirement. Matching the same GPU and CPU still cannot guarantee the same result if your operating-system version, driver or game patch differs.
Worked example: Dreaming Sarah
The live compatibility table, checked in 2026, lists Dreaming Sarah under the PlayStation 5 title ID PPSA02929. Its Windows result is “In game, playable.” The same row reports two project tests:
| Host platform | Reported status | Tested computer | Reported performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows | In game, playable | GTX 1050 Ti with an i5-7500 at 3.4 GHz | 60 FPS |
| Windows | In game, playable | Intel HD Graphics 620 with an i5-7200 at 2.5 GHz | 36 FPS |
| Linux | ? | not stated in the compatibility table | not stated in the compatibility table |
Those frame rates belong to the listed Dreaming Sarah tests. They do not establish a universal 60-FPS target, a minimum GTX 1050 Ti requirement or Linux support. If your computer has different graphics hardware, your result can differ even when the title ID and Windows status match.

The table gives useful evidence for that title, not a system-wide benchmark.
How to compare a compatibility entry with your own PC
Start with the exact software identity
- Confirm the title name and PlayStation 5 title ID.
- Note whether the report tested a particular edition, patch or special configuration.
- Record the AnyPS5 version or build named by the report.
Then compare the host environment
- Use the same operating system family as the report whenever possible.
- Compare processor model and clock context, not just the number of cores.
- Compare the graphics device and its driver environment.
- Check whether the report mentions a controller, keyboard mapping, launch argument, translation layer or other setup requirement.
Finally, set the right expectation
If your software and hardware are close to the recorded test, the entry is more informative. It is still not a compatibility contract. If your setup is substantially different, look for a newer report or test cautiously while preserving saves and expecting regressions.
Known issues matter more than a green-looking status
Open every issue link attached to the game. A title can reach gameplay while retaining problems that change whether it is practical to play.
- Crashes and freezes: note where they occur. A crash at startup is different from a reproducible crash after several hours.
- Rendering gaps: missing textures, incorrect lighting, broken shaders or invisible effects can make progression impossible even when the frame rate is high.
- Audio faults: missing voices, distorted sound or broken cut-scenes may indicate an incomplete implementation.
- Input problems: menus and gameplay can require different controls. A title that renders correctly may still be difficult to operate.
- Save and loading behavior: verify that saves can be created and restored before investing significant time.
- Version-specific regressions: compare the issue’s date and build with the version you plan to run.
Do not infer that an issue is fixed merely because a newer table row exists. Look for an explicit update in the report or known-issues notes.
What AnyPS5 is—and what it is not
The AnyPS5 README describes an automatic executable-porting tool for Linux and Windows, including a relinker and implementations of console system libraries for host-side linking. That architecture is why the project’s compatibility list and report terminology are more useful than a simple “emulated” or “not emulated” label.
Compatibility depends on how the particular executable interacts with the implemented libraries, graphics and system behavior. Recognizing shader instructions or reaching a window is not the same as supporting a complete game. A per-title report is therefore the appropriate unit of evidence.
The project README says that the project is intended for interoperability, research, preservation and compatibility purposes. That describes the project’s stated purpose; it does not turn an untested game into a supported one or answer whether a particular copy is available for your computer.

Do not confuse AnyPS5 compatibility with an official PC release
AnyPS5 is separate from buying an official PlayStation Studios PC port. Sony’s PlayStation support FAQ says that PC and console versions are separate products and that it is not currently possible to buy one version and play it on the other platform. That statement concerns Sony’s official releases; it does not determine whether a PS5 executable works through AnyPS5.

Owning a console copy therefore does not, by itself, establish that you own a PC product or that a particular executable is legally or technically available for your setup. Keep the official-release question and the AnyPS5 compatibility question separate.

Using a video as proof of general support
A demonstration may show one build, one operating system and one machine. Use it to find the relevant report, then verify the current table entry and issue notes.
Reading “runs” as “playable”
“Runs” can mean anything from opening an executable to reaching a menu. Use the project’s specific status and milestone wording instead.
Assuming Windows and Linux share a result
They do not. Read the row for the operating system you intend to use; a question mark is not a positive result.
Turning one frame-rate number into a buying guide
The Dreaming Sarah figures are measured observations for two recorded PCs. They should not be presented as AnyPS5-wide hardware requirements.
Ignoring title IDs
Names can hide different editions and regional executables. When an ID is available, use it as the decisive identity check.
Skipping the report’s date
Compatibility is moving information. A result can become more useful after a project fix or less useful after a game update, so date and build belong in your notes.
Assuming an absent title is a confirmed failure
An unlisted game has no tested result in the table. It may be unsupported, untested or simply not yet documented. Do not label it a failure without a project report saying so.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →A practical decision rule
Use the following rule after reading an entry:
- Proceed with reasonable confidence: the exact title ID is listed for your operating system, the status reaches “In game, playable,” the report is close to your AnyPS5 build and hardware, and no blocking issue is recorded.
- Proceed as an experiment: the title reaches only launch, rendering or early gameplay; the report uses a different build; or the issue list contains unresolved crashes or visual defects.
- Wait or seek more evidence: your platform is marked “?”, the title is absent, the report is for a different executable, or a known issue prevents progress.
This rule keeps the status tied to the evidence actually recorded instead of converting a partial milestone into a promise.
When to recheck the table
Revisit the compatibility entry when AnyPS5 publishes a new release, when the game receives a patch, when you change operating systems or when a previously reported issue affects your playthrough. The project’s README and compatibility pages are the primary places to check for current status, tested platforms and known issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if my game is not listed in the AnyPS5 table?
Treat it as unestablished compatibility. Check the title ID and search again for another edition or regional executable, then recheck the project’s table after future reports or releases.
Does a question mark for Linux mean the game fails there?
No. It means the compatibility table does not provide a positive Linux result for that entry. Do not convert the question mark into either a success or a confirmed failure.
Why is the title ID useful when the game name is obvious?
Different editions, regions and related releases can share similar names while using different executables. Matching the ID prevents you from applying one report to the wrong title.
Is a controller required to check compatibility?
No. A controller is optional input hardware for playing; checking a game’s status only requires reading the compatibility entry and its report.
Can I use the Dreaming Sarah frame rates to estimate performance for another game?
No. The 60-FPS and 36-FPS figures are project-reported results for Dreaming Sarah on the two listed Windows test computers. They are not a general AnyPS5 benchmark.
Recommended Free Tools
Does “In game, playable” guarantee that my copy will work?
No. It is a positive result for the tested title, platform, build and computer. Compare your edition, patch, operating system and hardware, and read the linked issues before treating it as practical for your setup.
What if my AnyPS5 build is newer than the report?
A newer build may include fixes, but it may also change behavior or leave the title untested. Look for an updated game report rather than assuming that every older result still applies unchanged.
Should I buy a faster graphics card based on one compatibility row?
No. Hardware figures describe the machine used for that title’s test, not a general minimum or recommended specification. Use them as context, not as a purchase guide.
How is AnyPS5 different from an official PlayStation PC game?
AnyPS5 is a project for porting PS5 executables to Windows and Linux. Sony treats its official PC and console versions as separate products, so checking an AnyPS5 entry is a different question from buying an official PC release.
