There is no public Riot lookup tool in the guidance reviewed that can tell you whether a used CPU—or a whole used PC—is linked to an active VALORANT hardware ban. Riot calls this an HWID ban. If you suspect a computer is banned, Riot advises you not to sign in on it; contact Riot Player Support for a review instead.
What a VALORANT HWID ban means
Riot describes an HWID ban as blocking the actual device, not just one account. Its Community Pact says a new account cannot log in from hardware subject to this enforcement. Riot Support also warns that using another account on a computer believed to have an HWID ban may prevent access to Riot products and could result in a time-based ban for that account. See Riot Support’s explanation of HWID bans.
Why you cannot check a used CPU yourself
Riot’s public guidance explains the enforcement and how to request a review, but it does not offer a buyer-facing checker, CPU-serial lookup, or other procedure for confirming a used CPU’s ban status. The documents describe hardware at the computer or component level; they do not establish that the CPU alone carries or reveals a ban. They also do not explain a reliable way to verify or clear a ban by replacing a particular component.
What to do before buying second-hand hardware
Ask the seller about the system’s history
As general buyer precautions—not a Riot-prescribed check—ask whether the CPU came from a complete PC, whether that PC had VALORANT or Vanguard penalties, and why the parts are being sold. If possible, get the answer in writing and agree on a return window. A seller’s assurance or a clean-looking test cannot query Riot’s enforcement records, so neither proves that hardware is clear.

Do not test suspected hardware with your Riot account
Riot Support’s instruction is to avoid signing in on a computer you believe has an HWID ban. Using a spare or newly created account is not a safe status check: Riot says another account used on suspected banned hardware may itself face a time-based ban. If the seller cannot establish the system’s history and you cannot accept that uncertainty, the prudent choice is not to use your Riot account on it.
If you encounter a ban or launch restriction
Request a review from Riot Support
If you believe a penalty was applied incorrectly, submit a request through Riot Player Support’s HWID-ban guidance. Riot says it can investigate a request; a particular outcome is not guaranteed. Include the relevant account and penalty details and describe what happened without trying to evade or alter hardware enforcement.

Distinguish an HWID ban from VAN: RESTRICTION
A launch failure is not by itself proof that a used CPU is banned. Riot says VAN: RESTRICTION can prevent VALORANT from launching until required system-security settings are enabled. Its Vanguard security update says restrictions may be applied at account or HWID level after suspicious hardware behavior or statistical anomalies. Read the exact error and follow Riot’s instructions for that message; do not change BIOS or other security settings simply to investigate a suspected HWID ban.

- There is no official public CPU-status checker identified in Riot’s cited guidance.
- Replacing a CPU or another component is not an established way to confirm or clear a ban.
- A generic diagnostic, a seller’s test, or a separate Riot account cannot verify Riot’s enforcement records.
- Avoid hardware-ID changers or spoofers; they do not provide a legitimate status check or support review.
