There is no universal discount threshold that makes every game a good buy.
Match the offer to the game you want
Before comparing prices, make sure each listing is for the same product. A PC key, a console download and a physical console copy are not interchangeable offers, and editions may include different content. Also check the region and currency: prices and activation restrictions can vary by country. - Platform: Confirm the exact system or storefront, such as Steam, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch.
- Edition: Check whether it is the standard edition, a bundle, or an edition with additional content.
- Region and currency: Verify that the price applies where you live and that any key or copy can be activated there.
Put today’s price in historical context
Compare the offer with the game’s own price history, not just its listed regular price. A current discount can be lower than the usual price without setting a new low. Conversely, a price near a past low may still be worthwhile if you want the game now—but the history is context, not a guarantee of future pricing.
There is no evidence-based, universal percentage that defines a good game deal. The right comparison depends on the title, the exact edition and platform, and what comparable sellers currently charge.

Compare eligible offers and checkout terms
Once you have matched the product, compare the prices you can actually buy. Check the seller, activation platform, stock status and any delivery costs or other fees that affect the total. A price tracker’s listing is a starting point, not the final transaction: open the retailer’s page and confirm the product and terms before paying.
GameDeal’s methodology says its offers appear while in stock, have been checked within the previous 72 hours, and link to the shop. That is the service’s stated approach, not a guarantee that every tracker has the same update schedule or coverage. Prices, stock, sellers and sale end times can change, so verify the listing and checkout page when you are ready to buy.

Use a tracker suited to your platform
IsThereAnyDeal
IsThereAnyDeal offers deal filters for price range, discount, store, platform and historical-low status. Its game pages include price history and waitlist notifications, and its API documentation describes price-history and historical-low endpoints as well as country-sensitive queries. These documented features do not guarantee complete coverage of every retailer or region.
Deku Deals
Deku Deals says it tracks games for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and Steam, including offers at official stores, and supports wishlist email alerts. Its site displays retailer examples including Amazon. Check that a listing is for your console, edition, region and intended seller; category coverage does not mean every offer is available everywhere.

Augmented Steam
Augmented Steam says its product pages display the current best price and historical lowest price from multiple authorized stores alongside the purchase box. Because extension features, supported stores and browser compatibility can change, check its current product details before relying on it.

If the current offer is not compelling and you do not need the game immediately, a price alert can help you monitor it. IsThereAnyDeal describes waitlist alerts with customizable rules; Deku Deals describes wishlist email notifications.
