What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
To check whether a website is safe before visiting it, inspect the destination’s actual domain, take browser danger or certificate warnings seriously, and verify unexpected account or payment requests through a known official channel. HTTPS and a clean reputation lookup can provide useful information, but neither proves that a site is honest. If you’re asking, “How can I check whether a website is safe before visiting it?”, use the checks below before entering credentials, payment details, or other sensitive information.
Check the link before you open it
- Pause and inspect the destination. If possible, copy the link or view its destination without opening it. A familiar logo or convincing page design is not proof that the link leads to the real organization.
- Read the domain carefully. Look for misspellings, extra words, or a domain that does not match the company or agency named in the message. Google Search Central warns that phishing pages may look like the real site and recommends checking the address bar: Social Engineering (Phishing and Deceptive Sites.
- Use a known route instead of a message link. For an account, delivery, or payment issue, open the organization’s site using a bookmark or address you already know is genuine. If you need to contact it, use a phone number from a trusted source—not details in the suspicious message. The FTC recommends independently verifying unexpected requests: How To Recognize and Avoid Phishing Scams.
What browser warnings and HTTPS actually tell you
Danger warnings are a reason to stop
Chrome may show a full-page warning when Google Safe Browsing identifies a potential risk, including phishing, malware, unwanted software, or social engineering. Leave the page rather than bypassing the warning. Google describes these sites as potentially dangerous; a warning is a risk signal, not a claim of perfect certainty about every URL. See Manage warnings about unsafe sites and Appropriate Usage | Google Safe Browsing.
Certificate or privacy errors are not invitations to continue
If the browser reports a certificate or privacy error, do not proceed to the page or enter information. Such an error can involve the site, network, or device, so it does not by itself identify the cause. Chrome explains connection indicators and errors in Check if a site’s connection is secure.
HTTPS protects the connection, not the site’s intentions
A valid HTTPS certificate means the connection to the domain shown in the browser is encrypted and authenticated. It does not prove that the operator is trustworthy or that the domain belongs to the organization you meant to reach. Check the address-bar name even when the connection is marked secure. If you send information to a scammer’s site, encryption can protect it in transit while still delivering it to the scammer. The FTC explains this distinction in Are Public Wi-Fi Networks Safe? What You Need To Know.
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Use a site-status lookup as one more signal
You can check a destination with Google Safe Browsing’s site-status tool. A warning is a reason not to continue. A result that reports no known issue only describes what the tool detected at that check; it is not a safety certification and cannot promise the site is safe now or later.
Google’s technical guidance covers URLs shown in a browser’s address bar, not every resource a page may load, such as scripts or images. A clean lookup therefore cannot rule out problems in embedded content or a later change to the page. Avoid entering private or token-bearing URLs into third-party checkers whose privacy practices you have not verified. See Appropriate Usage | Google Safe Browsing.

- Dual-band Wi-Fi with 5 GHz speeds up to 867 Mbps and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 300 Mbps, delivering 1200 Mbps of total bandwidth¹. Dual-band routers do not support 6 GHz. Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.

- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
Notice pressure tactics before sharing information
Be cautious when a message urges you to act immediately, asks you to update payment details, or promotes a deal that seems unusually cheap. These signs do not establish fraud on their own, but they are reasons to stop and verify through the organization’s known website or contact channel. A quick decision checklist
- Before opening: Inspect the destination and confirm the domain fits the organization the message claims to represent.
- If a warning appears: Leave the page; do not bypass a danger warning or certificate/privacy error.
- If the page loads: Check that the address-bar name is the intended site. Treat a non-secure connection as unsuitable for sensitive information, while remembering that HTTPS alone does not establish honesty.
- Before an account or payment action: Navigate independently to the official site or contact the organization using details from a known-good source.
- If still unsure: Use Google Safe Browsing’s status lookup as a supplementary check, not a guarantee.
