To find out whether your computer can run Mina the Hollower, compare its operating system, 64-bit status, processor, graphics adapter, RAM, graphics API, and free storage with the minimum specifications on the official Steam listing. Check every category: having 4 GB of memory alone is not enough. Windows users must also separate the game’s stated Windows 8 minimum from Steam’s current client support, which is Windows 10 and later.
The result is a compatibility baseline, not a promised frame rate. The listing does not publish useful recommended specifications or a benchmark, so a computer that meets the minimums may still need individual testing for smoothness.

Official minimum requirements at a glance
The Steam store page lists different requirements for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Use the row for the operating system you actually intend to use. These are minimum thresholds, not performance targets.
| Requirement | Windows | macOS | Linux |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 8 or later; 64-bit operating system | macOS 11 or later; 64-bit operating system | 64-bit operating system; glibc 2.36 or later |
| Processor | Intel Core 4th generation (Haswell, 2013) or AMD Bulldozer (2011) | Apple M1 or later | Intel Core 4th generation (Haswell, 2013) or AMD Bulldozer (2011) |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | 4 GB RAM | 4 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Intel HD 5000 (2013), Radeon HD 7000 (2012), or Nvidia 900 Series (Maxwell, 2014) | Separate minimum Mac graphics model: not stated | Intel HD 5000 (2013), Radeon HD 7000 (2012), or Nvidia 900 Series (Maxwell, 2014) |
| Graphics/API requirement | DirectX 12 | Not stated separately | Linux DirectX requirement: not stated |
| Available storage | 860 MB | 860 MB | 860 MB |
All values in the table come from the Steam listing for Mina the Hollower. “Not stated” means the listing does not publish a separate value; it is not an invitation to assume that any hardware will work.

- The six-foot cord lets you lean back and play a comfortable distance from your PC monitor.
What each requirement means
Operating system and 64-bit architecture
A 64-bit operating system is required on all three platforms. On Windows, the game page says Windows 8 or later. That is the game’s published minimum, but it is not the same as the Steam client’s current operating-system policy. Steam states that, beginning January 1, 2024, its client supports Windows 10 and later. Therefore, a Windows 8 installation can match the game line while still being outside the client’s stated support. If you cannot run the current Steam client, the game requirement alone does not solve that compatibility problem.
“64-bit” describes the operating system and processor mode, not simply the age of the PC. A 64-bit processor running a 32-bit edition of Windows still fails the listed Windows architecture requirement. Check the operating-system type rather than inferring it from the CPU’s name.
Processor generation
The Windows and Linux listing uses processor families and generations rather than a clock-speed target. The Intel threshold is 4th-generation Core, known as Haswell and introduced in 2013; the AMD threshold is the Bulldozer family from 2011. A newer processor family will normally be newer than the named baseline, but a model number must be checked rather than judged by GHz alone. Laptop and desktop versions can have different performance even when their branding is similar.

The macOS requirement is different: the listing calls for an Apple M1 or later processor. An Intel Mac therefore does not satisfy the published Mac CPU line, even if its processor is otherwise fast enough on paper.
Graphics adapter
The Windows and Linux baseline names three graphics groups: Intel HD 5000, Radeon HD 7000, and Nvidia 900 Series (Maxwell). These are model families, not amounts of video memory. Integrated Intel graphics can qualify by model while using shared system memory; conversely, a newer-looking card with an unfamiliar model name should be compared by generation and capability, not by the amount of VRAM printed on the box.
Do not use installed RAM as a substitute for the graphics check. System memory and the display adapter are separate requirement lines. You need the exact adapter name from Windows, macOS, or Linux before deciding whether the graphics baseline is met.

Memory
The listed minimum is 4 GB of RAM on each platform. This is installed system memory, not graphics memory and not free memory shown at a particular moment. If other applications are open, the operating system may have less available memory even when the installed total meets the threshold. Meeting the number establishes only that the published minimum is present; it does not establish a frame rate.
Recommended Free Tools
Storage
The game requires 860 MB of available storage on each listed platform. Check free space on the specific drive or volume where Steam will install the game, not merely the total capacity of another disk. Leave room for the operating system, Steam files, updates, and normal temporary data. A drive with less than the published free-space figure cannot complete the installation until space is made available.
DirectX and glibc
Windows lists DirectX 12. DirectX is a graphics and system API requirement, so a computer can have a qualifying-looking GPU but still fail the API check. Windows’ DirectX Diagnostic Tool reports the installed DirectX version; use it as one part of the comparison, not as a promise of performance.

Linux instead specifies glibc 2.36 or later and does not state a Linux DirectX requirement. glibc is a core system library. Check the version supplied by the distribution rather than trying to translate the Windows DirectX line to Linux.
How to check a Windows PC step by step
- Confirm the Windows edition and architecture. Open Settings > System > About and read Windows specifications and System type. You can also press Windows key + R, enter
msinfo32, and read OS Name and System Type in System Information. Record whether the installation is 64-bit and compare the Windows version with the game’s line in the requirements table. - Record the processor. In Settings > System > About, read the Processor field. System Information shows the same information under Processor. Write down the complete model, including its generation or series, then compare it with the Intel Haswell or AMD Bulldozer baseline. Do not rely on a generic label such as “Intel Core” without the model number.
- Check installed RAM. The About page shows Installed RAM. System Information lists Installed Physical Memory (RAM). Compare the installed total with the 4 GB minimum. If the page reports a little less usable memory, distinguish that from the installed amount: hardware-reserved memory can reduce what Windows makes available to applications.
- Identify the display adapter. Press Windows key + R, enter
dxdiag, and open the Display or Render tab. The Name field identifies the graphics adapter. Device Manager is another route: right-click the Start button, choose Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and copy the exact model. Compare that model with the Intel HD 5000, Radeon HD 7000, or Nvidia 900 Series families in the table. If two adapters appear, note which one games use; a laptop may list both integrated and discrete graphics. - Check DirectX. In
dxdiag, read DirectX Version on the System tab. This confirms the installed API version reported by Windows. It does not certify that every feature works at a particular speed, so retain the exact GPU comparison from the previous step. - Check installation space. Open File Explorer, select This PC, and inspect the free space on the drive where your Steam library is located. Steam’s storage line is 860 MB. If the library is on a secondary drive, inspect that drive specifically. Free space can change while downloads or updates are running.
- Apply the Steam-client caveat. Even if every game line matches on Windows 8, verify that the Steam client you need supports that operating system. The listing’s note says Steam client support is Windows 10 and later from January 1, 2024. Treat this as a separate gate from the game’s Windows version.
Windows comparison worksheet
| Check | Your result | Minimum to compare against | How to find it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Architecture and OS | Record your edition and 32/64-bit type | 64-bit; Windows 8 or later on the game page | Settings > System > About or msinfo32 |
| CPU | Record the full model | Intel 4th-generation Core/Haswell or AMD Bulldozer | About page or System Information |
| RAM | Record installed physical memory | 4 GB | About page or System Information |
| GPU | Record every listed display adapter | Intel HD 5000, Radeon HD 7000, or Nvidia 900 Series | dxdiag Display tab or Device Manager |
| API | Record the DirectX version | DirectX 12 | dxdiag System tab |

How to check a Mac
- Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. Record the macOS version and the chip shown in the overview. The published baseline is macOS 11 or later and an Apple M1 or later processor.
- Open System Settings > General > Storage (or About This Mac > Storage on older layouts) and check the available space on the volume used for the Steam library. Compare it with 860 MB.
- Check memory in Apple menu > About This Mac. The listed minimum is 4 GB RAM.
- Do not invent a Mac GPU threshold from the Windows table. The Steam listing does not provide a separate minimum Mac graphics specification. That absence means the published Mac information is less granular, not that graphics performance is guaranteed.
- If the Mac uses an Intel processor, it does not match the listing’s stated Apple M1-or-later CPU requirement. An M-series model still needs to meet the operating-system, memory, and storage lines.
How to check a Linux system
- Check architecture and CPU. In a terminal, run
uname -mfor the architecture andlscpufor processor details. A 64-bit installation normally reportsx86_64fromuname -m. Compare the CPU model with the Intel 4th-generation Core/Haswell or AMD Bulldozer baseline. - Check RAM. Run
free -hand read the total memory. Compare installed memory with 4 GB; theavailablecolumn is a current-use figure, not the installed total. - Identify graphics hardware. Run
lspci | grep -Ei 'vga|3d|display'. Compare the resulting adapter name with the Intel HD 5000, Radeon HD 7000, or Nvidia 900 Series families. If the command returns more than one adapter, determine which one the desktop session and Steam use. - Check glibc. Run
ldd --versionand read the version on the first line. The Linux listing requires glibc 2.36 or later. Distribution package names and kernel versions are not substitutes for this library-version check. - Check storage. Run
df -hand inspect the mounted filesystem containing the Steam library. Compare its available space with 860 MB, not with the capacity of an unrelated mounted drive.
The Linux requirements do not state a DirectX requirement. Do not mark a Linux installation as failing merely because DirectX is not present; use the Linux-specific glibc, architecture, CPU, graphics, memory, and storage lines instead.

| Your comparison | What it means | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Every published line meets or exceeds the relevant platform minimum | Your system matches the store’s baseline on paper. | Install through Steam and evaluate actual performance; the listing gives no frame-rate promise. |
| One line is below the minimum | The PC does not satisfy the published minimum specification. | Identify that exact component or software condition before considering any change. |
| The model is unknown or the tool reports conflicting information | The comparison is inconclusive. | Use the full model name from System Information, dxdiag, About This Mac, or Linux hardware commands; do not guess from RAM or a product nickname. |
| Windows 8 matches the game line but the Steam client is unsupported | The game and storefront gates disagree. | Account for Steam’s Windows 10-and-later client support separately. |
| Mac graphics information is missing from the listing | The published Mac specification is incomplete in that category. | Use the stated M1-or-later, macOS, RAM, and storage checks, then treat graphics performance as an uncertainty rather than a guarantee. |
What the minimums do not tell you
The Steam page does not provide useful higher CPU, graphics, memory, or storage targets in its recommended-requirements section. It also does not publish benchmark results or promise a particular frame rate. Consequently, there is no evidence-based “60 fps” cutoff to apply to a borderline system.

Minimum compliance can also be affected by conditions the table does not measure: background applications, thermal throttling, power-saving laptop modes, driver state, display resolution, and the workload of other software. Those factors can change how a qualifying computer feels in play without changing its published specifications. Use the requirements to decide whether the hardware is within the supported baseline, not to predict an exact experience.
Do you need a controller?
Steam includes “Controller” among the game’s tags, so a gamepad may suit your preferred control method. The listing does not say that a controller is required to run the PC version, does not identify a required model, and does not establish a purchase recommendation. Treat a controller as optional and check your own input preference after confirming the computer requirements.
A practical pre-install checklist
- Use the requirement row for your actual operating system.
- Confirm a 64-bit operating system, not merely a 64-bit-capable processor.
- Write down the complete CPU model and compare its family or generation.
- Identify the actual graphics adapter; do not use RAM capacity as a graphics test.
- Confirm at least 4 GB of installed system memory.
- Check DirectX 12 on Windows or glibc 2.36 or later on Linux, as applicable.
- Verify at least 860 MB free on the drive that contains the Steam library.
- On Windows 8, check the separate Steam-client support limitation.
- Remember that a pass is a minimum-spec comparison, not a frame-rate guarantee.
The Bottom Line
If your platform, architecture, CPU, graphics adapter, memory, API or library version, and free storage all meet the applicable Steam minimums, your PC matches Mina the Hollower’s published baseline. Windows 8 requires extra caution because the game line and Steam-client support line are different. No published benchmark converts that baseline into a guaranteed frame rate.
