You cannot verify a yes-or-no answer yet. As of October 13, 2026, Bungie has not named a specific next Destiny game or published its PC system requirements. Any claim that a particular processor or graphics card will run that future title would be a guess.
You can still prepare accurately: record your exact Windows, CPU, GPU, memory and storage details now, then compare them with Bungie’s official minimum and recommended specifications when that table appears. The published figures for Destiny 2 are useful only as current-game context, not as a forecast for its successor.

What is actually known about the next Destiny game
Bungie’s May 21, 2026 announcement says Destiny 2’s final planned live-service content update would arrive on June 9, 2026, as the studio began incubating its next games. It does not name a next Destiny title, announce a release date, or provide PC hardware requirements. A later support guide says no further Destiny 2 content updates are planned apart from possible health and stability hotfixes.

The announcement describes a studio transition rather than a conventional game reveal. Bungie’s wording was: “To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio.” That statement is not a specification sheet and does not establish what hardware a future game will need.

Why a reliable compatibility verdict is impossible today
A PC can be judged against a published requirement, but there is no official next-title baseline to compare against. Destiny 2’s existing table cannot establish the needs of an unnamed future release because a new game may use a different engine configuration, rendering features, operating-system policy, memory budget or storage layout.
Therefore, the accurate answer to “Can my PC run the next Destiny game?” is not yet verifiable. “Yes,” “no” and estimates based on Destiny 2 would all imply evidence Bungie has not supplied.
Record your PC before requirements are announced
Make a written record rather than relying on a broad label such as “gaming PC.” Exact model names matter when Bungie publishes its comparison table. Save the record somewhere you can update it after a driver change, memory upgrade or storage replacement.

Record the complete graphics-card model and the dedicated video-memory figure shown for it. If the computer lists both an integrated adapter and a discrete card, record both instead of assuming the faster one is being used.
- Check which adapter a game can use. In Windows, open Settings → System → Display → Graphics. This page lets you inspect or set the graphics preference for an installed game. On a laptop, note whether the machine is configured to use integrated graphics or a discrete processor for demanding applications.
- Measure available storage. In File Explorer, open the drive on which you would install the game and record free space. Record the drive letter and free capacity, not just the total disk size. A future requirement may distinguish installed size from temporary space needed while downloading or unpacking an update.
- Write down the platform you intend to use. The eventual requirement may differ by storefront or operating system. Note whether you plan to use Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store or another officially supported distribution method, and whether the machine is a desktop, conventional laptop or handheld PC.
A useful record to keep
- CPU: full manufacturer and model designation, including any generation or suffix shown in Windows.
- GPU: full model designation for the discrete card and any integrated adapter, plus dedicated video memory where Windows reports it.
- RAM: installed amount in gigabytes.
- Windows: edition and version.
- Storage: free space on the intended installation drive.
- Form factor: desktop, laptop or handheld; for a laptop, whether it has switchable integrated and discrete graphics.
- Storefront: the distribution platform you expect to use.
This record turns the eventual check into a model-for-model comparison. It also prevents a common mistake: treating a product family name, such as a GPU series, as if every card in that family had the same capability.
How to compare your hardware when Bungie publishes the table
1. Confirm that the page is for the exact game
Start with Bungie’s official support or store page and verify the title in the heading. Read the publication or update date and check whether the table applies to the PC edition and your storefront. Do not use a page that is explicitly labeled Destiny 2 to answer a question about a later game.
Also check whether Bungie has revised the requirements after launch. A launch table and a later support article can differ if an update changes the supported operating system, storage layout or platform list. Keep the URL and date with your notes so you know which version you compared.
2. Separate minimum from recommended
Compare your CPU, GPU, RAM and operating system with the minimum tier first. Meeting minimum specifications is an entry compatibility threshold; it does not promise a particular frame rate, resolution, graphics preset or consistently smooth play. The recommended tier is the more useful target if Bungie describes it as the level for a preferred experience.

Do not average the categories. A computer that exceeds the recommended GPU but falls below minimum RAM has not passed the table. Mark each line independently, including the operating system and storage conditions.
3. Match exact component models
Use the complete model in your record. A broad label such as “RTX,” “Radeon,” “Core i5” or “Ryzen 5” covers products with materially different performance and memory. If Bungie lists more than one acceptable processor or graphics card, compare your model to the listed alternatives rather than trying to infer equivalence from a family name alone.

Pay attention to laptop versions of a chip. A mobile GPU can carry a familiar name while operating under a different power and cooling configuration from a desktop card. Unless Bungie explicitly explains equivalence, treat the exact laptop model and its listed policy as separate facts.
4. Check memory and the operating system independently
Do not treat a powerful graphics card as a substitute for insufficient system RAM, and do not assume that a supported CPU makes every Windows edition acceptable. Verify the RAM number and Windows edition/version as separate checklist items. If the page names 64-bit Windows, confirm that your installed edition meets that wording rather than relying on the computer’s age or manufacturer label.
5. Check installed space and installation headroom
Read the storage wording carefully. “Installed size,” “download size” and “space required for preload” describe different stages. Compare free space with the largest figure Bungie gives for your platform, then leave room for the installer to unpack files and for later updates. A drive that can hold the final game may still fail during installation if the process needs temporary space.
Check the drive that will actually host the installation. Free space on a second drive does not help if the launcher, system or selected library is using another volume. Language selections can also change the final size when Bungie says the figure is an estimate.
6. Review laptop and platform restrictions
If the table includes laptop notes, follow them separately from the desktop specification. Check which GPU Windows will use, and read any restrictions for handhelds, virtualized systems or alternative operating systems. A component match alone does not override a platform policy.
7. Classify the result conservatively
Use three labels in your notes: meets minimum, meets recommended or fails/unclear. “Unclear” is appropriate when the page does not list an equivalent model, the platform is unsupported, or a laptop policy leaves the configuration outside Bungie’s stated support. This avoids turning an uncertain comparison into an unjustified yes.
Destiny 2’s current PC requirements are context, not a prediction
Bungie’s published PC table is explicitly for Destiny 2. It can answer whether a computer is within Destiny 2’s listed baseline, but it cannot answer whether that computer will run an unnamed next Destiny game.

Bungie says Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 support for Destiny 2 ended on June 4, 2024. The Epic Games Store listing supports Windows 10 64-bit only. These are current Destiny 2 policies and should not be carried over to a future title without a new Bungie statement.
The age of these component examples is another reason not to extrapolate. They describe what Bungie lists for Destiny 2, not the rendering features, memory requirements or operating-system support that a newly developed game might adopt.

Destiny 2 storage figures show why free space needs its own check
After Destiny 2 Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, Bungie listed separate installed and preload figures for PC storefronts. The numbers below apply to Destiny 2 at that update, not to a future game.

Bungie describes these figures as estimates and says the install size can vary with language selections. Some platforms need additional space during installation. The update package itself was listed separately as 28.40 GB on Steam, 27.18 GB on the Epic Games Store and 35.80 GB on the Microsoft Store. An update download is not the same thing as the complete installed game or the temporary space required for a preload.
The difference between Steam’s 180.90 GB installed figure and its 353.00 GB preload figure illustrates why a single “game size” number can be misleading. The Microsoft Store figures happen to match in this table, but that does not make the storefronts interchangeable. When the next game receives a storage table, copy the figure for your own storefront and compare it with free space on the actual installation drive.
Laptop and integrated-graphics cautions
Bungie does not officially support laptop configurations for Destiny 2, although it says laptops that meet or exceed the minimum specifications may be able to play. That wording is a warning about configuration and support status, not a guarantee for every laptop that happens to contain a listed component.
Integrated graphics can cause performance problems when they do not meet the minimum specification. Bungie’s known-issues guidance, last updated July 7, 2026, specifically reports that laptops using 12th-generation Intel Iris integrated graphics may crash in demanding environments. Where a discrete GPU is available, Bungie suggests using Windows Graphics Settings to assign Destiny 2 to that discrete processor.

A discrete GPU with a familiar model name does not reveal a laptop’s power limit, cooling arrangement or which adapter the game will actually select. If Windows reports two adapters, test the setting on the exact executable or launcher Bungie identifies rather than assuming the preference applies globally.
Steam Deck and Proton are a separate compatibility question
Bungie’s current Steam guide says Destiny 2 is unsupported on Steam Deck SteamOS and on systems using Steam Play’s Proton unless Windows is installed and running. It warns that attempting to bypass the incompatibility may result in a ban and recommends keeping the operating system and drivers updated during troubleshooting.
This is a Destiny 2 policy. It must not be projected onto an unnamed future release. When Bungie publishes the next game’s platform list, check whether SteamOS, Proton, Windows on a handheld or another configuration is explicitly supported before buying or installing it. Hardware that matches a Windows requirement does not automatically make a non-Windows operating system supported.
What to do if your eventual comparison shows a shortfall
Only one component is below minimum
Record the specific failed line instead of assuming the whole PC is unsuitable. A future official table may identify a CPU, GPU, RAM, operating-system or storage shortfall. The correct remedy depends on that line and on the rest of the machine; the available evidence does not support a universal upgrade recommendation.

Several components are below minimum
Do not choose parts from Destiny 2’s old table as a proxy for the next game. Wait for the official requirements, then evaluate whether the platform can be upgraded sensibly or whether a replacement system better fits the stated target. Your resolution, frame-rate goal, budget and desktop-versus-laptop preference would all affect that decision.
You meet minimum but not recommended
You have passed the listed entry threshold, but the table alone does not promise a specific visual preset or frame rate. Use the recommended tier as the safer target for the experience Bungie associates with that level, and look for any separate developer notes about resolution or performance.
The requirement page is still missing
Keep your hardware record current and answer “not yet verifiable.” Do not fill the gap with a prediction based on Destiny 2, a similarly named GPU or a rumor about release timing. An official table is the evidence needed for a defensible compatibility answer.

No. Bungie’s table does not promise a frame rate, resolution or graphics preset. Recommended means only that your components meet the tier Bungie published; look for separate performance targets if Bungie provides them.
What if my PC has both integrated and dedicated graphics?

Should I buy a new GPU now?
There is no evidence-based next-game upgrade recommendation yet. Wait for Bungie’s requirements and compare them with your exact hardware, resolution and frame-rate target before spending money.
A practical checklist for publication day
- Confirm the page names the exact next Destiny title.
