Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteCheck your Windows version, CPU, RAM, exact graphics card, available SSD space, TPM 2.0, and Secure Boot, then compare each with the Modern Warfare 4 tier you want to reach. Activision’s published minimum is for play; its recommended tier targets 90 FPS in multiplayer on High, while its top tier targets high-quality ray tracing at upscaled 4K.
Modern Warfare 4 PC requirements at a glance
Activision published these desktop PC specifications on October 1, 2026, and says they are valid for launch but may change. All tiers require DirectX 12 compatibility, broadband internet, and an Intel or AMD processor that supports AVX. Intel Arc graphics cards also require Resizable BAR. Each tier calls for an SSD with 115 GB available at launch; mandatory updates may require additional space. See Activision’s current PC requirements.
| Tier and target | Windows | CPU | RAM | Graphics card and video memory | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum to play | 64-bit Windows 10, latest update | AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600 | 8 GB | AMD Radeon RX 470; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or GTX 1060; or Intel Arc A580. Video memory: 3 GB. | SSD with 115 GB available at launch |
| Recommended: 90 FPS multiplayer on High | 64-bit Windows 11, latest update | AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700 on Activision Support; the Call of Duty Blog says Core i7-8700K | 16 GB | AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti; or Intel Arc B580. Video memory: 8 GB. | SSD with 115 GB available at launch |
| High-quality ray tracing at upscaled 4K | 64-bit Windows 11, latest update | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-10700K | 32 GB | AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Video memory: 16 GB. | SSD with 115 GB available at launch |
The two official sources differ on the recommended Intel CPU: Activision Support lists Core i7-8700, while the September 29 Call of Duty Blog lists Core i7-8700K. If your processor is close to that threshold, check Activision Support again before treating it as confirmed.
Check your Windows version, processor, and RAM
- Open Settings > System > About.
- Under Device specifications, note the processor name and installed RAM.
- Under Windows specifications, note the edition and version. Compare them with the tier: the minimum calls for 64-bit Windows 10 with the latest update; the two higher tiers call for 64-bit Windows 11 with the latest update.

Identify your exact graphics card
Record the complete GPU model name from Windows system information or the graphics-card maker’s utility, then compare that name with the list for your intended tier. Do not rely only on a family name, similar model number, or apparent equivalence. Activision’s listed specifications describe desktop PCs; laptop GPUs with similar names can be different models and are not necessarily supported.
For an Intel Arc card, also verify that Resizable BAR is enabled, as Activision lists it as a requirement for Arc GPUs.

Check SSD space on the install drive
- Open Settings > System > Storage.
- Find the drive where you plan to install the game. If your PC has more than one drive, check each one separately.
- Confirm the intended drive is an SSD and has at least 115 GB free at launch.
The requirement is 115 GB of available space, not a drive with 115 GB total capacity. Leave additional headroom because Activision says mandatory updates may need more storage. A new SSD is relevant only if your current install drive lacks the required type or free space; check your PC’s compatibility before buying one.
Verify TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot
TPM 2.0
Open Windows Security > Device security > Security processor details and check that the specification version is 2.0. Microsoft says that if the Security processor section is missing, TPM may be disabled or the device may not have the feature. Consult your computer maker’s instructions before changing firmware settings. See Microsoft’s TPM guidance.

Secure Boot
Review Windows Security > Device security for Secure Boot status. A PC that supports Secure Boot does not necessarily have it enabled. The feature uses UEFI firmware settings, and the steps to change them depend on the device; consult your manufacturer’s instructions. Activision requires Secure Boot for the game. Microsoft explains the feature and its settings in Secure Boot overview.
Compare your PC against the goal you want
- Minimum to play: Use the minimum column as the published play threshold. Check every listed component and the supporting requirements, not just the GPU.
- 90 FPS multiplayer on High: The recommended tier is tied to that specific target. Activision’s figure is a published target, not a guarantee of measured performance on every PC.
- High-quality ray tracing at upscaled 4K: This is a substantially higher tier. Meeting the minimum or recommended specs does not establish performance at this resolution, setting, or workload.
Compare the exact CPU and GPU models, RAM, GPU video memory, Windows edition and version, and install-drive space. The published tiers do not provide performance guarantees for other resolutions, settings, or workloads.

If one component falls short
Identify the specific shortfall before considering an upgrade. RAM or storage may be upgradeable, but CPU and GPU changes depend on the motherboard, power supply, cooling, case, and—on laptops—the device’s design. Activision’s requirements do not establish a universally compatible upgrade. Check your PC maker’s or component maker’s documentation before buying or changing hardware.
Because Activision says launch requirements may change, recheck its current support page near launch or after an update.
