Check your TV’s full model code, then look for Gaming Hub and the Xbox app on the TV itself. Samsung supports Gaming Hub on selected TVs, but Gaming Hub eligibility does not guarantee the Xbox app is available for every model or country. The local app listing for your exact TV is the most useful final check.
Check your Samsung TV for the Xbox app
- Find the full model code. Look in the TV’s Settings or About screen, or on the product label. Use the complete code rather than only the series name: configurations and availability can differ by model and region.
- Open Gaming Hub. From the Home screen, open Gaming Hub in the Smart Hub sidebar if it appears.
- Look for Xbox. Check inside Gaming Hub and the Samsung TV app store. Samsung says the Xbox app is available only on select TVs and in select regions (Samsung US Xbox app listing).
- Check local support if it is missing. Search Samsung support and the app listing for the full model code and your country. Check for a TV software update, but do not assume an update will make the app available: a missing listing can reflect model or regional restrictions.
What Samsung’s model-year information tells you
Samsung’s Canada Gaming Hub page lists selected 2022–2026 TV series and selected 2021 models after a software update. Its 2021 examples are QN900A, QN800A, QN90A, Q80A, AU8000 and The Frame LS03A. For 2022–2026, the page lists selected models in these series: Micro RGB R95; OLED S95, S90 and S85; Neo QLED 8K/4K QN900, QN800, QN90, QN85, QN80 and QN70; Mini LED M90, M80 and M70; QLED Q90, Q70 and Q60; Crystal UHD U, DU, CU and BU8000; and The Frame, The Serif and The Terrace.
That is Gaming Hub support information for Canada, not a promise that Xbox is listed on every model or in every country. Samsung’s US Gaming Hub page describes Gaming Hub as available on 2022-and-newer Samsung Smart TVs; regional guidance is not identical. Use the local Samsung support and app listing for your exact TV rather than relying on a release-year shortcut.
Can you play Xbox games without an Xbox console?
Yes, if the Xbox app and Xbox Cloud Gaming are available for your TV and region. Cloud gaming streams games to the TV, so a console is not required for that setup. You still need an eligible subscription and a game offered for your location and device. The catalog and service availability can change over time; check the current listing before subscribing.

What you need for cloud gaming
- Xbox app access: The app must be available for your TV and country.
- Subscription and account: Samsung lists Xbox Game Pass for cloud gaming. Its US app listing also requires a Microsoft account with an Xbox profile. Confirm the current plan and game requirements in your region.
- Controller: Use a supported Bluetooth controller. Samsung gives the Xbox Wireless Controller as an example, not as the only option; verify compatibility for your specific controller model. The US listing says a supported controller is sold separately.
- Internet: Samsung Canada recommends at least 20 Mbps for Xbox Cloud Gaming on Samsung TVs. This is a recommendation, not a guarantee of performance; internet provider fees may apply.
Samsung describes Gaming Hub itself as free to use, but cloud gaming is a partner service and may require a subscription. The Xbox app listing also notes that game availability varies by time, region and device, and that server availability and wait times can vary.

If Gaming Hub or Xbox does not appear
- Verify the complete model code and country; a broad series name may not identify a supported configuration.
- Check the TV’s software update and Samsung’s local support page and app listing for that exact model.
- Distinguish between the two checks: Gaming Hub appearing does not establish that Xbox is offered for the TV or region.
- If Xbox appears but a game does not, check the current regional catalog and service requirements; not every title is available on every device.
