Treat that figure as an estimate—not a guaranteed sale price or cash payout. Your Steam Wallet value, a current listing price, and what an item might sell for on another marketplace are different things.
How to check your CS2 inventory value
- Choose a checker and enter your Steam identifier. For example, SkinsValue says you can submit a Steam ID or profile URL and that it reads public inventory data without requiring a Steam login. That describes the provider’s stated workflow; it is not an independent security or accuracy audit. See SkinsValue.
- Make the inventory visible if the checker cannot load it. SkinsValue says both your Steam profile and game details must be public for its checker to read your inventory. Review those visibility settings on Steam, then try again.
- Open the item-level breakdown. Compare individual items rather than relying only on the headline total. SkinsValue advertises details including rarity, float, stickers, charms, and price history, but feature availability and valuation methods can vary by tool.
- Identify the price source and measure. Check whether the result uses Steam Community Market or another venue, and whether it reports a listing, a sale-price summary, or another calculation.
What an inventory value does—and does not—tell you
Steam Wallet market values
Steam describes its Community Market as a place to “Buy and sell items with community members for Steam Wallet funds.” A Steam Market quote therefore describes a Steam Wallet transaction context; it does not by itself establish how much cash you could receive elsewhere. Listings, medians, volume, and order books
A current lowest sell listing is an asking price, not proof that a buyer paid that amount. A median is a summary statistic, not necessarily the price of the next sale. Volume describes transactions over a period, not the number of currently available listings. For the Steam priceoverview route, the guide at cs2.sh, updated August 25, 2026, explains these distinctions and notes that the route is undocumented and may be throttled or change its response. Do not treat it as a stable, officially documented API.
Order-book bids and asks are different again: they represent buying and selling offers rather than a completed transaction. OpenSkin describes separate endpoints for order-book and history data; consult its API documentation if you need to understand those data types. A tool showing values across several markets may also be using different venues and calculations, so its total is not directly interchangeable with a Steam-only figure.

Why individual skins may be worth more or less than a basic quote
Two items with the same base skin name may not be equivalent for pricing. Float, stickers, patterns, charms, and—in relevant finishes—Doppler phase can affect item-specific comparisons. Some tools or data services advertise these attributes, including SkinsValue, OpenSkin, and Steam Data API. Those feature descriptions do not establish that every checker detects every attribute correctly or prices it accurately. Check the exact item details and compare like with like.

How to interpret the total before making a decision
- Use the total as a snapshot tied to the tool’s venue, data, and calculation—not a timeless value.
- For a possible sale, inspect the specific item and relevant market rather than assuming the inventory-wide estimate is what you will receive.
- Keep Steam Wallet value separate from proceeds on other venues; Steam’s market description is explicitly framed around Wallet funds.
- When special attributes matter, verify that the checker identifies the exact item variant before relying on its estimate.
