To check your CS2 level, look for your profile rank above your Competitive skill group in the game. Valve uses “profile rank” for the XP progression level; it is different from a map’s Competitive skill group, Premier CS Rating, and your Steam Community level.
Where to see your CS2 profile rank
Open CS2 and look at the profile rank displayed above your Competitive skill group. Valve’s support page identifies that as the location of the profile rank, but does not give a click-by-click menu route. Steam Support: CS2 Competitive Skill Groups and Profile Rank.
Your profile rank tracks progression through match XP. Valve states that the maximum profile rank is 40.
Make sure you are checking the right kind of rank
| What you see | What it measures | Is it your CS2 XP level? |
|---|---|---|
| Profile rank | CS2 match-XP progression; maximum rank 40, according to Valve. | Yes. This is usually what players mean by “CS2 level.” |
| Competitive skill group | Competitive matchmaking skill, assigned separately for each map and subject to change with match results. | No. |
| Premier CS Rating | Your rating for Premier matchmaking. | No. |
| Steam Community profile level | Steam account level based on Steam badges and games. | No. It is separate from CS2 progression. |
Valve explains the CS2 distinctions in its Competitive Skill Groups and Profile Rank FAQ. Steam Support describes the separate account-wide level in its Steam Levels and XP FAQ. To view that Steam level, create or open your Steam Community profile; it is not the profile rank shown in CS2.

Why your profile rank may be back at level 1
Claiming a Service Medal resets your CS2 profile rank to 1. Steam Support says this reset does not affect your Competitive skill group or Prime eligibility. If your rank has returned to 1, consider whether you claimed a Service Medal rather than assuming the game has lost your progress. See Valve’s CS2 FAQ for the profile-rank and medal details.

Your Steam account history is not the display for your current in-game profile rank. Steam Support’s Service Medals information points to personal game data for account-history details, which is different from checking the rank currently shown in CS2: Steam Support: Service Medals.

- Counter Attack is a football (soccer) strategy game which lasts for 90 minutes. The two players ('managers') each control a team of 11 players. Every player has a unique set of skills that the managers try to best utilise during play. Managers control how the players move, pass, dribble, tackle and shoot.
- Duels between players on the pitch - whether tackles, shots or headers - are determined by a combination of the unique player skills plus a dice roll. During movement phases, a sand timer is used to keep the pace of the game up.
- Counter Attack features everything you'd expect in a game of football, from corners to free kicks, penalties to red cards and injuries.
