To check your current patchline, open the Riot Client, select Settings, then look under League of Legends for Current Patchline. Riot describes this value as a way to identify your regional server—not as a setting for choosing a different numbered game patch.
Where to find your current patchline
- Open the Riot Client.
- Select Settings.
- Find the League of Legends section.
- Read the value beside Current Patchline. Riot’s support guidance identifies this as the place to check which region server you are on.
Does “Current Patchline” change your game patch?
No such function is documented in Riot’s cited guidance. The setting is presented as a regional-server identifier, not a selector for installing an older or different numbered League patch. Riot’s patch schedule separately describes its numbered format as YEAR.PATCH-NUMBER; for example, 26.01 is the first patch of 2026 and 26.02 the second. See Riot’s League of Legends patch schedule.
If you want to play the latest patch
Let the Riot Client update League of Legends, then check Riot’s current patch notices or schedule. A scheduled release date is not confirmation that every region has deployed the patch. Riot lists October 7, 2026 for patch 26.20, but warns that patch dates can change; verify the update in your client or through a current Riot deployment notice.
If you want a different region or an older patch
The Current Patchline value can help you identify your current server region, but the cited Riot guidance does not explain how to transfer an account to another region or set a different one there. It also does not provide a supported procedure for rolling back the game or manually switching to a historical patch. Do not treat unofficial client modifications or third-party patch tools as Riot-approved methods.

What the Riot Client does
Riot describes the Riot Client as a hub for launching its PC games, while game-specific clients remain. That role does not make the Current Patchline field a documented patch-selection control. Riot’s Riot Client FAQ provides additional client-launch context.
