Roblox documents this as an experience-level change—not a player setting that changes the cursor in every Roblox game.
Change the cursor in your Roblox experience
You’ll need an image asset that Roblox can identify by asset ID, and a LocalScript that runs for the player. The current approach in Roblox’s Mouse and keyboard input documentation uses UserInputService.MouseIcon.
- Upload or identify the image asset you want to use, and note its asset ID.
- In Roblox Studio, add a
LocalScriptin a location where it runs for the player. - Set the cursor image using the asset ID in this format:
local UserInputService = game:GetService("UserInputService") UserInputService.MouseIcon = "rbxassetid://3400146391"The ID shown is Roblox’s documentation example; replace it with the ID of your image.
- Run the experience and check the cursor during play, including when it passes over buttons and other interface objects.
Use UserInputService.MouseIcon for new experience code. Roblox’s Mouse reference includes a legacy Mouse.Icon example but directs developers to UserInputService.MouseIcon to get or set the user’s mouse icon in experiences.
Hide the cursor instead of replacing it
If your goal is to remove the pointer, set UserInputService.MouseIconEnabled to false. Roblox advises against using a transparent image to hide the cursor. When the mouse icon is blank, Roblox displays its default arrow. See the UserInputService reference for these properties.

Why the custom cursor changes over buttons
Some interface elements temporarily override the selected cursor when the player hovers over them. Roblox identifies ImageButton, TextButton, TextBox, and ProximityPrompt among the objects that can do this. If your cursor switches back over one of these elements, that behavior may be the UI’s hover cursor rather than a failure to load your asset.
What players can change
The documented method is a script a creator adds to their own experience. The official instructions cited here do not establish a Roblox client preference for changing the cursor across other people’s experiences. A cursor change made with this script applies to the experience that contains it.

Mouse input may not be available on every platform. Mobile and console devices can still have the Mouse object, but generally do not have mouse or pointer hardware, so a custom mouse cursor may not have a visible effect with touch or gamepad input. Roblox explains this platform context in its Mouse reference.
Keep Studio plugin cursors separate
Roblox also documents system cursor choices for GUI events in Studio widgets. Those options are for plugin development, not the normal way to change a player’s cursor in a Roblox experience; see the Studio widgets documentation.
