Identify your exact RX 7000 card
“Radeon RX 7000” identifies a GPU family, not a firmware target. Different board makers sell distinct cards built around the same GPU, and model suffixes or board revisions can matter. Before looking for firmware, record the maker, complete product name, and any revision printed on the card or its support page.
Check the card label or product packaging
If accessible, read the label on the card or its retail box. Use the full model name, not just a GPU name such as RX 7900 or RX 7800, when searching the manufacturer’s support site.
Use Radeon Software or Windows hardware IDs
AMD says Radeon Software’s System > More Details view can show the graphics chipset, device ID, and subsystem ID. In Windows, open Device Manager > Display adapters, open the card’s Properties, then inspect Details > Hardware Ids. Read the vBIOS version—not the driver version
Use a card-information view that explicitly labels the firmware field “BIOS” or “VBIOS,” and note the entire version string. AMD’s Radeon Settings instructions describe where to find the installed graphics-driver version and check for driver updates; that driver revision is separate from the discrete card’s vBIOS revision. The reviewed AMD guidance does not establish one universal RX 7000 vBIOS screen. The available view depends on the card maker and its supported software. For example, SAPPHIRE documents a VBIOS section in TriXX for selecting a preferred BIOS mode on supported NITRO+ RX 7000, RX 6000, and RX 5000 cards. That is a SAPPHIRE-specific feature; it does not mean every RX 7000 card has the same interface or a switchable BIOS. See SAPPHIRE TriXX software information.

Check whether a vBIOS update applies to your card
Look at the exact board maker’s official support page, firmware notes, and specified utility. Match the update to the card’s complete model and, where applicable, its board revision and firmware series. Do not infer that an update is needed just because a newer graphics driver is available: AMD lists dated driver packages separately from card firmware support on its graphics driver downloads page.
Firmware series can differ even within a maker’s card model. GIGABYTE gives an example in which an F3 card belongs to the F1–F9 BIOS series, not a separate F10–F19 series. Treat that as GIGABYTE-specific guidance, not a numbering convention for other manufacturers. Follow the instructions for your exact card on GIGABYTE’s VGA BIOS update guide.

Update with the card maker’s procedure, then verify
- Get the firmware and updater from the exact card support page. Confirm that the file and instructions name your complete model and the right firmware branch. Do not use an image intended for a different board partner’s card.
- Follow that maker’s steps exactly. Utilities and update methods vary by manufacturer. GIGABYTE’s guide, for example, describes using its VGA @BIOS utility, selecting a BIOS file, restarting when the update completes, and optionally saving a backup of the current BIOS to a chosen path. Those are GIGABYTE instructions, not universal RX 7000 steps. The guide’s backup option does not require removable storage.
- Restart if the manufacturer instructs you to. Do not interrupt the process or substitute steps from another vendor’s guide.
- Reopen the same firmware-information view. Compare the full BIOS/VBIOS revision—and the active mode if the card provides one—with the manufacturer’s release notes or updater result.
If the revision does not match the expected result, the card becomes unstable, or the updater reports a mismatch, stop. Contact the card maker’s support rather than trying another model’s firmware or improvising a recovery method. The available manufacturer instructions do not establish one verification or recovery procedure that applies to every RX 7000 card.

Keep the three BIOS-related tasks separate
- Checking a version: Read the card’s BIOS/VBIOS field.
- Changing BIOS mode: Use the card maker’s documented control, if the card supports selectable modes. SAPPHIRE’s TriXX guidance applies to supported SAPPHIRE models, not all RX 7000 cards.
- Flashing firmware: Install a vendor-provided update for the exact card, then verify the reported revision against that vendor’s expected result.
- Updating the graphics driver: Install an AMD driver package; its version number does not identify the card’s vBIOS.
