If Breece Hall is confirmed inactive, first check whether an eligible running back on your bench gives you a more dependable role than a waiver pickup. If not, Braelon Allen was a Jets-specific waiver candidate in NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 report—but that was a conditional, week-specific assessment, not a universal start recommendation. Your best replacement depends on your roster, scoring rules and the options actually available in your league.
Confirm Hall is inactive for this game
Hall’s status changes week to week. Check the current official NFL inactive report and your fantasy platform’s player-status display before changing your lineup. ESPN says its fantasy injury status uses the NFL’s official injury and inactive list: ESPN’s fantasy injury guidance.
Keep historical reports separate from current news. The Jets’ January 4, 2026 season-finale inactive report listed Hall as inactive against Buffalo; it confirms his status for that game only, not for a later injury or matchup.
Check your roster before using waiver priority
Compare Hall’s eligible bench replacements before spending waiver priority or budget. Look at likely workload and role rather than choosing by name recognition. The right choice could be a bench running back or an eligible flex player, depending on your roster and league rules.

- Likely touches and role: Consider who is expected to handle the work, not only who is listed as the backup.
- Receiving work: Give it more weight in formats that reward receptions.
- Goal-line opportunity: A potential scoring role may matter in your league’s scoring format.
- Matchup and kickoff: Compare the matchup and make sure you can still change the lineup before the player’s team starts.
- Eligibility: Confirm the replacement fits an open RB or flex slot under your platform’s rules.
Should you pick up Braelon Allen?
Allen is the documented Jets-specific waiver option in NFL.com’s Week 4, 2026 fantasy waiver report. The report ranked him as its top running-back waiver target after Hall injured his thigh in the fourth quarter against Detroit; an editor’s update said Hall was considered week to week after an MRI on his quad. NFL.com said Allen could offer RB2 production if Hall missed significant time. That outlook was conditional, not a guarantee that Allen would deliver RB2 results or outrank the players already on your roster.
NFL.com listed Allen as rostered in 14% of leagues in that report. Treat that as a platform snapshot from the article, not a current or stable ownership rate. Before adding or starting him, check whether he is available in your league and whether later injury news, practice reports, depth-chart changes or backfield usage have changed the picture.

Compare eligible running backs and flex players under your rules
There is no universal replacement ranking without knowing your roster, scoring settings, league size, opponent, waiver pool and lineup slots. Compare the players you can actually start using those details. A player’s projected role matters differently across scoring formats, especially when receptions count, and a waiver candidate is useful only if he is available and eligible for your lineup.

Check your platform’s lock rules and change the lineup before the replacement’s team starts. ESPN says a move involving a player may be made until that player’s team is scheduled to begin in the scoring period, subject to position eligibility and roster-slot rules: ESPN’s roster settings guide. Other platforms and custom leagues may differ. Yahoo’s lineup guide notes that players left on the bench do not contribute to active lineup totals.
