There is no confirmed PC configuration for GTA VI to buy against yet. Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists a November 19, 2026 release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S; the official platform and editions support page names those consoles for pre-orders. Neither reviewed page lists a PC version or PC system requirements. So choose a computer for games with published PC requirements and for your own resolution, frame-rate and budget goals—not an unofficial “GTA VI-ready” label.

What is known about GTA VI on PC?

As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar’s official pages list GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of November 19, 2026. They do not list a PC version or PC system requirements. That means no desktop, laptop or component tier can currently be promised to run GTA VI. Any purported GTA VI PC spec is speculation, not an official recommendation.

Rockstar’s published PC requirements for GTA V Enhanced are useful only as an example of how to read a game’s specification. They are not a proxy, forecast or guarantee for GTA VI.

Choose a PC around games you can play now

There is no universal specification for “demanding games”: requirements differ by title, and minimum and recommended specifications are specific to each game. Start with the PC games you intend to play, find each game’s official requirements, then compare those requirements with the exact computer you are considering.

  1. List your games. Include the games you play now and any upcoming PC releases you are actually planning for. Use each publisher’s or developer’s official system requirements rather than a retailer’s broad performance label.
  2. Set your target. Decide your display resolution and the frame rate you want. These are personal goals; the official sources reviewed do not establish a particular resolution or frame-rate target for GTA VI on PC.
  3. Compare every key component. Check the processor, system memory, graphics device and video memory, storage, and operating system against the requirements for each game.
  4. Check the whole game list. A computer that meets one game’s minimum requirements may not meet another game’s recommended requirements. Choose based on the games and settings that matter most to you.

How to compare a gaming PC’s specifications

Graphics card and video memory

Record the exact graphics device, not just a broad label such as “gaming graphics.” Check its video memory as well. Rockstar’s compatibility guide explains how to identify the display device and approximate video memory on a PC. Compare both against each game’s published requirements; do not infer GTA VI performance from an unofficial prediction.

Processor and system memory

Match the exact processor and memory configuration to the game requirements. A system’s total RAM figure is not the whole story if a game specifies a particular configuration, such as dual-channel memory. Rockstar lists 8 GB RAM as the minimum and 16 GB dual-channel RAM as recommended for GTA V Enhanced; those figures apply to GTA V Enhanced only.

Storage and operating system

Check the required operating system and available storage for each game, and note whether the specification calls for an SSD. For GTA V Enhanced, Rockstar lists 105 GB of SSD storage. That is a requirement for that title, not a GTA VI estimate. Also allow for the space needed by the operating system and other games you plan to install.

Use GTA V Enhanced as a concrete example—not a GTA VI forecast

Rockstar’s GTA V Enhanced PC requirements show how a game’s minimum and recommended specifications can differ:

GTA V Enhanced requirement Rockstar’s listed specification
Minimum system memory 8 GB RAM
Recommended system memory 16 GB dual-channel RAM
Storage 105 GB on an SSD

These are Rockstar’s requirements for GTA V Enhanced, not requirements for GTA VI. Rockstar also notes on its GTA V PC requirements page: “Over time downloadable content and programming changes will change the system requirements for this game.” The statement concerns GTA V and is a reminder to check the current requirements for the game you intend to play; it says nothing about GTA VI’s future PC specifications.

Check what your current PC has

If you are deciding whether to keep, upgrade or replace a computer, compare its actual hardware with game requirements rather than relying on its age or product name. Rockstar’s compatibility guide recommends using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to review system details.

  1. Open the Windows Start menu, type dxdiag, and launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
  2. Review the operating system, processor and memory details on the System tab.
  3. Open the Display tab and note the display device, approximate video memory and driver information.
  4. Compare those details with the official requirements for each game on your list, including operating system, processor, RAM, graphics and storage.

If a game’s requirements distinguish minimum from recommended hardware, use the category that matches your expectations rather than treating minimum as a promise of a particular visual quality or frame rate.

Desktop or laptop? Match the format to your needs

Choose between a desktop and laptop based on where and how you will use it, as well as the exact configurations available within your budget. The official Rockstar sources do not establish one format as a universal winner, nor do they verify any model’s performance for GTA VI. Whichever you consider, compare its named processor, graphics device, video memory, memory configuration, storage and operating system with the requirements of your current games. If upgrades matter to you, check the specific model’s upgrade options before purchase rather than assuming they are available.
