Choose the game first, then compare your PC with that game’s current official requirements for the resolution, graphics settings, and frame rate you want. There is no single set of PC specs for early-access action RPGs, and a listed minimum is not a promise of smooth play at high settings.
Start with the exact game and its current requirements
Look for the developer’s or publisher’s current PC requirements on the game’s official page or storefront listing. Check them close to purchase: early-access builds and their published requirements can change. A requirement for one action RPG is not a reliable baseline for another.
Requirements are most useful when they identify what each tier is intended to deliver. If a page gives only minimum and recommended parts without a resolution, preset, or frame-rate target, do not assume a specific performance outcome that the developer has not stated.
Compare every component, not just the graphics card

- Graphics card and VRAM: Compare the exact GPU model and listed video memory. Similar-sounding model names do not establish that two cards perform alike.
- Processor: Check the CPU model or listed equivalent; a GPU match alone does not establish that the system meets requirements.
- System memory: Compare installed RAM with the listed amount.
- Operating system and graphics API: Confirm that your OS is supported and that the required API, such as DirectX 11, is available.
- Storage: Check both the required free capacity and whether the developer specifies or recommends an SSD.
- Performance target: When provided, match the tier’s resolution, graphics preset, and frame-rate target to what you actually want to play.
For a prebuilt PC, verify the exact configuration rather than relying on a broad product name: models may be sold with different CPUs, GPUs, memory, and storage.
Use published tiers to understand what “smooth” means
Developers do not use “minimum” and “recommended” in exactly the same way. Their labels become more helpful when paired with a stated target. For example, PlayStation’s PC requirements for Returnal list these average targets:

Each tier also specifies a different CPU and GPU combination. Compare those combinations on the game’s page; do not treat the performance labels as interchangeable across games. PlayStation’s Returnal PC requirements
What the example action RPG requirements show
Last Epoch: a concrete parts comparison
Steam’s current Last Epoch listing gives a minimum of an Intel Core i5 2500 or AMD FX-4350, 8 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580 with 6 GB VRAM. It lists DirectX 11 and 22 GB storage, and strongly recommends an SSD. The recommended tier names an Intel Core i5 6500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 16 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6600-XT, with DirectX 11 and the same listed storage. The page does not attach a frame-rate or graphics-preset target to those tiers, so the parts alone do not establish a specific frame rate.

This is a useful example of how much the listed CPU, GPU, memory, and storage can vary between tiers—not a universal action RPG specification. The listing identifies Early Access beginning April 30, 2019, and full release on February 21, 2024; it should not be taken as evidence that the game remains in early access. Baldur’s Gate 3: storage can be a deciding requirement
Larian’s Windows requirements for Baldur’s Gate 3 list a 150 GB SSD requirement. Its minimum tier names 8 GB RAM and a GTX 970 or RX 480 with 4 GB or more of VRAM; the recommended tier names 16 GB RAM and an RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700 XT with 8 GB or more of VRAM. Larian says minimum specifications can run the game on low to medium settings and advises lowering the graphics preset if the frame rate is low. Choose a PC against your target, then check practical trade-offs
Once you have selected the game’s relevant tier, compare candidate PCs against its listed components and performance target. If two systems meet the same tier, price, upgrade options, warranty, and cooling can help distinguish them; the requirements themselves do not establish which PC is a better value or how either performs in independent testing.
As a starting category—not a guarantee for an unspecified game—a desktop with a dedicated GPU around the RTX 3060 or RX 6600-XT class and 16 GB RAM corresponds to parts named in Last Epoch’s recommended tier. Check the exact game’s current requirements and the precise configuration of any PC before buying. Without a named game, budget, country, resolution, settings, and frame-rate goal, there is no defensible exact build or price recommendation.
