Choose a Steins;Gate scale figure for a fixed, sculpted scene; choose a figma if you want to change poses and expressions. Before buying, compare the exact figure’s assembled height and footprint with your shelf, then check its materials, included parts, edition and seller. Scale labels alone do not tell you whether a figure will fit.
Scale figure or figma: which suits your display?
The main choice is between a composed display piece and an articulated figure. A scale figure presents a fixed pose, outfit and base as one sculpted scene. A figma is built for posing, with movable joints and, depending on the release, alternate expressions and parts.

These are examples from different releases, not a scale-to-height formula. Even figures of the same character and scale can have different bases, materials, dimensions and availability. For instance, the Steins;Gate 0 listing gives width including the stand, while several other listings provide height only. Check each product page for the exact edition: figma Kurisu, figma Okabe, Kurisu Makise (Lab Coat Style), Kurisu Makise -Antinomic Dual-, Kotobukiya’s Kurisu Makise, Kurisu Makise ~Reading Steiner~, and Kurisu Makise, Steins;Gate 0.
Measure your shelf before choosing
Measure the clear height, width and depth of the intended spot, then compare those figures with the assembled product—not just its scale label or character height. A broad base, support, or pose that projects forward can determine fit. Leave enough room to place and remove the figure without knocking nearby items.

- Look for dimensions that explicitly include the stand or base; do not assume a listed height describes the full footprint.
- If width or depth is missing, ask the retailer or manufacturer rather than estimating from photographs.
- Check whether the display pose or base extends beyond the character’s body. The Steins;Gate 0 Kurisu listing, for example, specifies about 260 mm of width including the stand.
Read the material and handling details for the exact release
Official listings in these examples describe products as PVC, ABS, painted PVC, pre-painted PVC and ABS, or painted plastic. Treat the listing for the specific figure as the reliable description; the available information does not establish that one of these materials is universally more durable than another.
Good Smile Company Customer Support says in its “How to assemble figures” article, dated June 28, 2023, that “PVC used on many figures is a soft material that gets deformed easily.” Handle assembly carefully and follow the instructions supplied with the item.

Check the edition, seller and availability
A product page may describe a past release or a scheduled reproduction, not current stock. Verify the precise edition, condition, included stand and parts, and the seller’s identity before ordering. Kotobukiya’s listing gives a Japan reproduction month of January 2027; that is not evidence of a worldwide shipping date. Good Smile notes that availability can vary by region and stock.
For Good Smile products, the company warns about bootlegs and identifies its own store or official partner shops as safer purchasing options. Its guidance also notes that prototype photos may differ from the final item, paintwork can vary, and stock may close.
