1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe right WordPress plan in 2026 is the least expensive option that meets WordPress’s current software requirements, has enough database and traffic capacity for your workload, and leaves you with a manageable amount of server administration. A small blog can normally start on entry-level shared or managed hosting. A busy publication, store, membership site, or agency portfolio should evaluate managed, cloud, VPS, or specialized infrastructure instead of choosing by storage or an introductory price alone.
Antihost offers managed WordPress hosting with free migration, one-click staging and a 14-day free trial.
Start by checking compatibility, then compare resource limits, renewal cost, backups, update responsibility, support, and scaling. The decision is not simply “shared versus VPS”: it is a trade-off between workload, isolation, growth, control, and the work you are prepared to do yourself.

Start with the 2026 technical floor
Before comparing dashboards or promotional offers, ask whether the provider supplies an environment that WordPress can run securely. WordPress.org’s current requirements page asks hosts about the following baseline:
| Component | Minimum to request | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| PHP | PHP 8.3 or greater | PHP runs WordPress core, themes, and plugins. A current branch receives security fixes and is more likely to support modern extensions. |
| Database | MariaDB 10.11 or greater, or MySQL 8.0 or greater | Posts, users, orders, settings, and plugin data live in the database. Old database releases can limit compatibility and security. |
| Transport security | HTTPS | Encrypted connections protect logins, forms, account data, and administration sessions. |
| Web server | Apache or Nginx, with the rewrite functionality WordPress expects | Correct rewrite handling supports readable URLs, redirects, and normal WordPress routing. |
You can send a host the wording from the official requirements page—“I’m interested in running the open source WordPress https://wordpress.org web software, and I was wondering if my account supported the following:” —and ask for a written answer rather than relying on a generic “WordPress-ready” badge. The requirements page is available at wordpress.org.

Check the PHP lifecycle, not just the current version
Version support changes during the life of a site. The Make WordPress Hosting Handbook records that PHP 8.3 moved to security-only support on 31 December 2025, while PHP 8.2 reaches end of life on 31 December 2026. A plan that offers only an aging branch can force a rushed migration or leave an unmaintained runtime in production.
Ask which PHP versions are available today, how quickly the provider adds new supported releases, and whether you can switch versions per site in the control panel. Confirm that the host tests the change against common extensions and provides a rollback path. Your themes and plugins must also support the target PHP version; a technically capable host cannot repair incompatible third-party code.
Match the hosting model to the work your site does
Hosting labels describe who owns the server work and how resources are allocated. Use the following comparison before looking at individual plans.
| Plan type | Good fit | What you gain | Trade-offs and questions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry shared hosting | Low-traffic blog, portfolio, brochure site, or early-stage game news site with modest plugins | Lowest cost and simplest setup; the provider maintains the shared platform | Other accounts share hardware. Ask about CPU, memory, database, and process throttling, backup scope, support boundaries, and what happens during traffic spikes. |
| Managed WordPress hosting | Owners who want WordPress-focused operations handled for them; established sites where update and backup work has become a burden | Provider-managed updates, security controls, backups, caching, migrations, and WordPress support may be bundled | Higher price and less low-level control. “Managed” varies widely, so obtain an itemized list of included updates, restores, staging, malware response, and exclusions. |
| Cloud hosting | Sites with changing demand or a clear growth path | Potentially elastic resources and the ability to move to larger capacity | Scaling may be automatic, metered by usage, or require a plan change. Ask what triggers scaling, how billing is calculated, and whether a human must approve increases. |
| VPS hosting | Medium-traffic sites needing clearer allocation, isolation, or custom server settings | More predictable resources and administrative control than shared hosting | A self-managed VPS requires operating-system, web-server, database, patching, firewall, and backup administration. A managed VPS reduces that burden at additional cost. |
| Specialized or enterprise hosting | High concurrency, WooCommerce, membership systems, complex databases, agencies, or strict isolation and support requirements | Higher capacity, stronger isolation, tailored architecture, and contractual support options may be available | More expensive and often more complex. Require a documented architecture, service limits, escalation process, and migration plan rather than buying on a brand label. |
When shared hosting is enough
Shared hosting is a rational starting point when one site has modest traffic, a small database, ordinary themes and plugins, and no requirement for custom services. A personal gaming blog, walkthrough archive, or simple portfolio can often run comfortably there. The important qualification is not the number of pages; it is concurrent work. A page with several database queries, search, comments, analytics, and advertising can consume more resources than a static-looking homepage.
Read the fair-use language. A provider may suspend or throttle an account after sustained CPU, memory, database, or process use even when storage remains available. Ask whether limits are measured per account, per process, or across a shared pool, and whether you receive warnings before enforcement.
When managed WordPress is worth paying for
Managed hosting is mainly an operations purchase. It can be worthwhile when publishing frequency, plugin updates, security monitoring, backups, or migrations distract from running the site. It is especially useful for an owner who does not want to administer a Linux server or troubleshoot a broken update alone.

Do not treat the word “managed” as a complete specification. Confirm whether the provider updates WordPress core, plugins, themes, PHP, and the operating system; whether updates are automatic or approval-based; and whether a failed update is rolled back. Ask whether support will investigate plugin conflicts or only the hosting layer. Check if staging is included so you can test updates before production.
When cloud hosting solves a growth problem
Cloud plans make sense when demand is uneven or you expect a site to outgrow its initial allocation. A news post, event, product launch, or viral video can create a short-lived concurrency spike. Cloud capacity can provide a growth path, but only if the mechanics are clear.
- Find out whether CPU, memory, storage, and database capacity scale independently.
- Ask whether scaling is automatic, scheduled, manually requested, or simply a move to a larger fixed plan.
- Confirm whether usage is metered and how overages are calculated.
- Check whether an increase is reversible after the spike and how quickly capacity changes take effect.
- Verify that backups, staging, caching, and email services continue to work after a scale-up.
When a VPS is appropriate
A VPS provides a clearer resource boundary and more control than shared hosting. It is a sensible middle tier for a growing publication, a busy community, or a site whose database and background jobs need predictable capacity. It is not automatically faster: poor configuration, an overloaded database, or an inefficient plugin can waste a large VPS.
Choose a general-purpose VPS for a balanced workload. A memory-optimized configuration is better suited to a database-heavy site that keeps larger working sets in memory. A CPU-optimized configuration is aimed at computationally intensive jobs. Those labels describe a starting architecture, not a guarantee; measure your actual bottleneck and ask how resources are allocated.

Size the plan by workload, not by page count
WordPress capacity is shaped by concurrent visitors, database activity, background tasks, and plugin behavior. Use your site’s workload pattern to choose a tier.

Small blog, portfolio, or brochure site
Start with entry shared or managed hosting when publishing is periodic, traffic is modest, and the site uses conventional plugins. Prioritize HTTPS, reliable backups, current PHP, straightforward staging, and competent support over a large storage quota. If the site mainly serves cached pages, it may need less compute than its media library suggests.
Game news or guide publication
A publication can experience bursts when a major release, patch, or announcement drives readers to the same articles. Look for page caching, a content-delivery network (CDN), enough PHP worker capacity for uncached requests, and a database plan that handles search, comments, and editorial workflows. Ask how the host responds to a sudden concurrency increase and whether cache purges are available when an article changes.

Logged-in pages are harder to cache because each visitor may see different data. Membership, forums, subscriptions, and user profiles increase database writes and session activity. Compare database capacity, object caching options, PHP workers, isolation, and restore procedures. Confirm that backups include the database and uploaded files together; restoring only the media directory will not restore accounts or orders.
WooCommerce or other transaction-heavy site
Stores add checkout, payment, inventory, customer accounts, and order queries. Favor a plan with predictable resources, strong database support, staging, and a documented restore process. Ask whether the host’s cache automatically excludes cart, checkout, and account pages and how it handles scheduled jobs such as payment callbacks and order processing.
Agency or multi-site portfolio
If you operate several client sites, count sites and environments rather than assuming “unlimited” means unlimited operational work. Check per-site PHP workers, staging allowances, isolation, user roles, migration assistance, and whether one noisy site can affect the others. A VPS or managed platform may be justified when client deadlines require predictable performance and support escalation.
Compare the complete cost and the limits that affect you
Record the first term and the renewal term separately. Introductory pricing can obscure a higher recurring rate, a long billing commitment, or paid features that a site eventually needs. Build a comparison sheet with one row per plan and ask for written answers.

| Item to record | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Billing term | Is the advertised price monthly, annual, or tied to a longer prepayment? What is the renewal price and date? |
| Number of sites | How many production sites are included, and are staging or development copies counted? |
| Storage | Is storage shared by files, databases, mail, and backups? Are there file-count limits? |
| Compute capacity | Are CPU, memory, PHP workers, processes, or database connections capped? Are limits per site or per account? |
| Traffic policy | Is there a stated visit allowance, bandwidth limit, or fair-use rule? What happens during a spike? |
| Backups | How often are backups taken, where are they stored, how long are they retained, and can you restore without opening a ticket? |
| Staging | Is one-click staging included, and can database and files be synchronized in either direction? |
| Migration | Is migration help included, what is excluded, and who checks redirects, email, cron jobs, and SSL after the move? |
| Security | Which malware detection, firewall, vulnerability response, and account-isolation controls are included? |
| Performance tools | Are page caching, object caching, CDN integration, image optimization, and cache purging available? |
| Support | When is support staffed, what channels are available, and does the team troubleshoot WordPress application issues? |
| Cancellation | What is the refund window, cancellation procedure, and process for exporting a complete site? |
If a plan comparison does not state a value, record “not stated” and ask before purchase. A vague promise is not equivalent to an allocation or a service-level commitment.
Make backups, updates, and security acceptance criteria
WordPress documentation notes that hosts may provide backups, updates, and developer tools and recommends that new users choose a provider with WordPress experience. Treat those services as separate checks rather than assuming they are included.
Backups
Confirm that backups are automatic, stored off-site or on infrastructure isolated from the live account, retained long enough to cover your publishing cycle, and restorable. Ask whether each restore includes the database, uploads, themes, plugins, and configuration. Perform a test restore to staging before you need it. A backup that cannot be restored, or that requires an unavailable support team, is not a dependable recovery plan.
Updates
Identify who updates WordPress core, plugins, themes, PHP, and the operating system. Ask whether updates are tested, scheduled, or applied immediately, and whether you can defer a risky plugin update. If the provider offers automatic updates, keep your own off-site backup and staging workflow so a faulty extension does not become a production outage.
Security response
Ask what happens after a malware alert: detection, quarantine, cleanup, evidence preservation, and recovery should be described separately. Confirm whether two-factor authentication, least-privilege user roles, firewall controls, and isolation from neighboring accounts are available. No hosting plan replaces secure administrator passwords, timely plugin maintenance, or a review of abandoned extensions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Evaluate performance features realistically
Caching and a CDN can reduce repeated work, but they do not fix an inefficient query, an oversized image, or a plugin that performs expensive work on every request. Ask which pages are cached, how logged-in and transactional pages are excluded, and how quickly you can purge stale content.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
PHP worker capacity matters when several uncached requests arrive together. More workers can improve concurrency only if CPU, memory, and database capacity keep up. Ask whether worker limits are visible and whether slow requests are logged. For a database-heavy site, ask about object caching and database connection limits. For media-heavy pages, check image processing limits and CDN behavior.
Data-center geography affects latency. Choose a location near the largest share of your audience when practical, then verify that the CDN can serve static assets elsewhere. Treat a CDN as an acceleration layer, not a substitute for adequate origin resources or a backup.
Follow a safe buying and migration process
- Describe the workload. Write down the number of sites, publishing frequency, logged-in features, transaction volume, major plugins, expected traffic patterns, and any background jobs.
- Confirm compatibility in writing. Get answers for PHP 8.3 or greater, MariaDB 10.11 or greater or MySQL 8.0 or greater, HTTPS, and Apache or Nginx rewrite support.
- Choose the operational model. Decide how much server administration you can perform and whether managed support is worth its cost.
- Build the comparison sheet. Record first-term price, renewal price, billing term, sites, storage, resource caps, backups, staging, migration, security, support, caching, CDN, and cancellation.
- Test support before paying. Ask a technical question about PHP versions, restore steps, or worker limits. Judge whether the response is specific enough to trust during an outage.
- Prepare the source site. Update WordPress and extensions, remove abandoned plugins, verify administrator access, lower DNS time-to-live if appropriate, and create an independent backup.
- Clone to staging or the new host. Check permalinks, media, forms, search, comments, user logins, scheduled tasks, redirects, email sending, and payment callbacks where applicable.
- Test the PHP and cache configuration. Use the target PHP release in staging, clear caches, and review logs for fatal errors, deprecated functions, slow queries, and failed cron jobs.
- Switch DNS only after verification. Confirm the certificate, HTTPS redirects, canonical URLs, robots rules, analytics, and administrative login on the new origin.
- Keep the old site available temporarily. Monitor errors, response times, database writes, forms, and transactions through the DNS transition. Do not cancel the old service until the backup and rollback plan are confirmed.
Recognize warning signs before you commit
- The plan advertises unlimited resources but does not state CPU, memory, process, database, or file-count policies.
- The provider cannot name the available PHP branches or explain how version upgrades are delivered.
- Backups are described as “available” without frequency, retention, location, or a self-service restore path.
- Support will sell a migration but will not explain what happens to redirects, SSL, cron jobs, email, or database data.
- A low first-term price is shown without a clearly displayed renewal price and billing term.
- There is no staging option for a site that depends on several plugins, membership functions, or checkout.
- The provider promises automatic scaling but does not state whether it is metered, capped, or subject to manual approval.
- The plan requires you to administer a VPS even though you have no process for patching, monitoring, backups, or incident response.
Use WordPress.org directory inclusion as one signal
The WordPress.org hosting directory says its listings consider factors such as WordPress contributions, customer base, ease of installation and upgrades, GPL compliance, presentation, and current system software. That makes directory inclusion a useful starting filter, not a universal ranking or a substitute for checking a specific plan’s limits.
Regardless of directory status, verify the technical floor, renewal terms, resource policy, backups, update ownership, support quality, geography, and exit process for the exact tier you would buy. A provider can be suitable in one plan and unsuitable in another.
Practical choices for common 2026 scenarios
| Scenario | Likely starting point | Upgrade trigger |
|---|---|---|
| New personal blog or portfolio | Entry shared or managed hosting with current PHP, HTTPS, backups, and simple staging | Repeated throttling, plugin-induced slowdowns, or a need for stronger isolation |
| Growing game-news publication | Managed hosting or a well-specified cloud plan with page caching, CDN access, and visible worker limits | Traffic bursts, uncached-request queues, database contention, or editorial downtime caused by updates |
| Membership or community site | Managed, cloud, or VPS hosting selected for database capacity, logged-in performance, and restore testing | Concurrent sessions, background jobs, or database growth exceed the plan’s allocation |
| WooCommerce store | Managed or specialized hosting with staging, transaction-safe caching, database support, and clear incident response | Checkout latency, order-processing failures, or insufficient isolation during campaigns |
| Agency managing multiple sites | Managed multi-site platform or managed VPS with per-site controls, staging, roles, and migration support | One client site affects others, operational work no longer fits your team, or contractual support is required |
Final decision rule
Choose the smallest plan that passes four tests: it meets the WordPress 2026 compatibility floor; it has enough capacity for your database, concurrency, and plugin workload; its backups and security responsibilities are explicit; and its total recurring cost fits your budget after renewal. Move up from shared hosting when you need predictable isolation, database or concurrency headroom, or provider-managed operations—not merely because a larger specification sounds faster.
Future-proofing also means having a PHP upgrade path. Because PHP 8.2 reaches end of life on 31 December 2026 and PHP 8.3 is already in security-only support, a host that cannot expose supported PHP releases promptly is a poor long-term fit even if the introductory offer is attractive.
