The free October 2026 update is for METRO 2033 Redux and METRO: Last Light Redux. If you already own either eligible game, you do not need to buy it again or make a separate purchase to claim the upgrade: use the account and library that own the game, then check for its update on the scheduled release date for your platform. This is the Redux update—not an upgrade for Metro Exodus.
Which Metro games and platforms are included?
PLAION describes the update as a free quality-of-life upgrade for METRO 2033 Redux and METRO: Last Light Redux. It is not a remaster or remake, and the FAQ says it does not include ray tracing. The announced platforms are PC, Xbox, and PlayStation; Nintendo Switch is not included at this time. PLAION’s official FAQ has the stated scope and limitations.

How to claim the update if you already own a Redux game
Existing owners receive the upgrade free. The FAQ confirms the entitlement but does not document a separate claim button or exact menu path for Steam, GOG, Xbox, PlayStation, or Windows Store. On or after your platform’s scheduled release, open the account and library that own the game and check for an update to the correct Redux title.
- Confirm the game is METRO 2033 Redux or METRO: Last Light Redux, rather than another Metro edition.
- Use the platform account that owns that game.
- Check the library or installed game for an available update after the relevant release date.
If no update appears, first verify the title, account, and date. Then use that platform’s official game-update or support controls; PLAION’s FAQ does not specify further steps for those storefronts.

How to prompt the update in Epic Games Launcher
PLAION’s general Epic support guide says automatic updates are enabled by default in most cases. If the update has not started, use this manual check:
- Open Epic Games Launcher and select Library.
- Find the installed Redux game. If an Update button is shown, select it.
- Allow the launcher to download and install the update.
These are general Epic Launcher instructions, not a Redux-specific claim flow. See PLAION’s Epic Games Store update guide.
