How you add a PlayStation Store game depends on how you got it: redeem a 12-digit voucher, claim a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game, or download a game you already own. Redeem vouchers on the account that should receive the content; purchased games are available from that account’s library, while Monthly Games require an active PlayStation Plus membership to play.
Choose the right way to add the game

These directions reflect PlayStation’s US support pages. Labels and availability can vary by country, platform software, and account settings.
Redeem a 12-digit voucher code
A voucher can add a game or add-on, in-game content, a season pass, a subscription, or wallet funds. The credit or content is applied to the account used for redemption, and cannot be transferred to another account. Choose the account carefully before entering the code. Voucher codes are single-use and must match the account’s country or region; some have an expiry date. See Sony’s voucher instructions.
- Web: Open PlayStation Store and sign in. Select your profile/avatar, choose Redeem Code, enter the 12-digit code, and continue.
- PS5: Open PlayStation Store, press Triangle to open the menu, then select … (More) > Redeem Code. Enter the code and select Redeem. Choose Download if offered, or download it from your library later.
- PS4: Open PlayStation Store, scroll to the bottom of the sidebar, and select Redeem Codes. Enter the code and confirm; continue to Download if that option appears.
- PlayStation App: Select the PS Store icon, open the menu, choose Redeem Code, enter the code, and continue.
A 10-digit discount code is different from a voucher: apply it at checkout rather than entering it in the voucher redemption flow. Wallet top-up vouchers for child accounts must be redeemed by the family manager, who can set a child spending limit. PlayStation Plus benefits for child accounts may also be limited by age ratings and parental controls. Sony’s voucher page covers these restrictions.

Claim a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game
New Monthly Games are added each calendar month. Select the game from the Monthly Games section while it is offered; you can download it then or later. Sony’s PS4 instructions explicitly say to choose Add to Library > Download, while its PS5 instructions say Download. Monthly Games are playable while your PlayStation Plus membership is active. Check Sony’s access instructions.
On PS5
- From Games home, open PlayStation Plus.
- Go to Benefits > Monthly Games.
- Choose the game and select Download.
On PS4
- Open PlayStation Plus > Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game and select Add to Library > Download.
Sony also says you can select Monthly Games for remote download through a web browser or the PlayStation App.

Monthly Games are not the Game Catalog
Monthly Games, the Game Catalog, and the Classics Catalog are different PlayStation Plus benefits. Catalog access depends on the applicable subscription tier, and catalog titles can leave the service; Sony notes that some have an end date. Do not treat a catalog game as an owned purchase that remains available regardless of membership or catalog changes. See Sony’s PlayStation Plus games information.
Download a game you already own
If you have already purchased or redeemed a game, you do not need to redeem its code again. Find it in the library for the account that owns it and select Download. Sony’s download instructions list these routes:

- Web: Sign in, open profile/avatar > Game Library > Purchased, select the game, then choose Download.
- PS5: Open Games home > Game Library > Your Collection, select the game, then choose Download.
- PS4: Open Library > Purchased, select the game, then choose Download.
- PlayStation App: Open the Game Library icon, choose Purchased, select the game, then choose Download to Console.
Remote downloading needs a linked, eligible console and the relevant settings. Sony says a web download requires a PS5 logged in with the account or a PS4 activated as that account’s primary PS4. In the app, the console must be linked; remote setup may require automatic downloads.

- Code rejected: Check that it is a 12-digit voucher, not a 10-digit discount code, and that its region matches the PlayStation account. Check its expiry date and whether it has already been used.
- Redeemed content missing: Confirm you are signed into the account used for redemption. Restart the console, sign out and back in, and check the transaction details.
- Purchased game missing: Check Purchased or Your Collection and review the transaction history on the account that made the purchase or redeemed the voucher.
- Child account cannot redeem wallet funds: The family manager must redeem wallet top-up vouchers; spending limits and parental controls can affect access.
