For the Nintendo Switch rereleases, Nintendo has announced a special Celebi Mystery Gift in Pokémon HOME after you complete the game’s Pokédex there. HOME connectivity is scheduled to begin in October 2026, but Nintendo has not published an exact launch date or complete claim instructions. For original Game Boy Advance cartridges, no current official route to add Celebi directly to a FireRed or LeafGreen save is established by the available Nintendo information.
Switch rereleases: the announced Celebi route
Nintendo’s U.S. listing says that completing the Pokédex for the Switch version of Pokémon FireRed or Pokémon LeafGreen in Pokémon HOME qualifies you to receive a special Celebi as a Mystery Gift in HOME. Nintendo gives the same reward condition for both games. The listing says HOME support starts “Starting in October 2026,” without naming a specific day. - Play the Nintendo Switch rerelease of Pokémon FireRed or Pokémon LeafGreen.
- Once the announced HOME connectivity is available, connect the game with Pokémon HOME.
- Complete that game’s Pokédex in HOME.
- Claim the special Celebi as a Mystery Gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME, as specified in Nintendo’s listing.
These are the announced conditions, not a live, fully documented walkthrough: Nintendo has not yet specified the rollout day, exact HOME menus, whether completion means registering every Pokémon as caught, or any additional eligibility requirements.
Does the Switch Celebi go into FireRed or LeafGreen?
Nintendo describes Celebi as a Mystery Gift received in Pokémon HOME. The announcement does not say it can be transferred back into the Switch game, and it does not describe any way to move the reward into an original GBA save. Treat “get Celebi in HOME” and “get Celebi in the game” as different outcomes unless Nintendo publishes further instructions.

Original GBA cartridges: what is and is not established
Nintendo’s current compatibility list for Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter does not list original FireRed or LeafGreen as compatible source titles. That means these services do not provide the documented route to transfer Pokémon out of those cartridges. Nintendo’s Switch announcement is about the rereleases and a reward in HOME; it does not establish a cartridge distribution. A current official method to put Celebi directly into an original FireRed or LeafGreen save has not been verified, which is not proof that no historical or niche distribution ever existed.
For the compatibility and transfer limits, consult Nintendo Support’s Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter compatibility and instructions for transferring Pokémon to Pokémon HOME. Pokémon moved from Bank to HOME cannot be returned to Bank or used with Nintendo 3DS titles, according to Nintendo’s transfer guidance; that limitation does not create a route into a GBA game.

Pokémon Bank’s end date
Nintendo has announced that Pokémon Bank service will end on February 25, 2027. After that date, transfers from Bank to HOME will no longer be possible. This is relevant to existing Bank transfers, but does not change the fact that FireRed and LeafGreen are not listed as supported source games.
