Beat Inscryption once to unlock Kaycee’s Mod. Then win runs with enough challenge points enabled to meet each next Challenge Level threshold. The progression reaches Challenge Level 12, where the Final Boss challenge unlocks. If you mean “complete” as defeating that boss too, activate the challenge and win one more run.
Unlock Kaycee’s Mod
Kaycee’s Mod is a free mini-expansion that makes Leshy’s Cabin a repeatable, increasingly challenging roguelike. The official March 17, 2022 announcement says it unlocks after you beat Inscryption for the first time. It also lists Shift+K+M at the Start Menu as an alternate access route.
As you raise Challenge Levels, you unlock cards, additional challenges, and developer logs attributed to Kaycee Hobbes, which reveal more about the disk’s secrets.
How Challenge Points advance levels
Challenges are optional modifiers that add points while changing your run—for example, No Hook, Smaller Backpack, No Clover, or Pricey Pelts. Choose a combination that meets the next level’s threshold without undermining a strategy you can win with. The community challenge reference reports 250 points across the available challenges.

| Challenge Level to reach | Required points for that level |
|---|---|
| 1 | 5 |
| 2 | 15 |
| 3–12 | 10 × the level number (30 at Level 3, rising to 120 at Level 12) |
These are the thresholds reported by the community challenge reference. A qualifying win advances one level only: extra points above the current threshold do not skip levels or bank progress for the next run.
The progression loop
- Check the point requirement for the next Challenge Level.
- Enable challenges whose point values meet or exceed that requirement.
- Build and play a run around a reliable win condition. Plan card choices and map nodes to support it; the community getting-started guide offers general deck-building advice, not a guaranteed formula.
- Defeat Leshy to complete the run and earn the level advance.
- Repeat with the next level’s threshold, adjusting modifiers to fit the deck and your approach.
Kaycee’s Mod is “endless” in the sense that you can keep starting increasingly challenging runs; an individual run ends at Leshy. The Final Boss challenge changes that final encounter when active.
