To complete Return of the Age of the Wolves, join the Wolf Hunting Contest in Blackhowl Plains, hunt wolves for Wolf Tails, and deliver them at the event’s campsites, including the final delivery location. Find the contest in the in-game Timetable, then follow the quest’s current Codex objectives: older guides disagree on the number of tails required.
Where to find the Wolf Hunting Contest
Return of the Age of the Wolves is an Exploration Quest in Blackhowl Plains, tied to the Wolf Hunting Contest. Open the in-game Timetable and look for the contest in the event schedule. GamesFuze’s September 2024 guide says the map can show the event in its relevant region and mark it with a green wolf icon; event availability and timing should be checked in your live game. GamesFuze’s quest guide and Game8’s quest listing describe it as taking place in Blackhowl Plains.

Travel to the area before the event begins so you are ready when the host NPC announces it. The schedule may vary or change, and the available sources do not establish current platform- or region-specific event times; use the Timetable rather than relying on a time quoted in an older guide.
How to complete the quest
- Check the Timetable. Locate Wolf Hunting Contest and head to Blackhowl Plains before its start.
- Hunt wolves during the event. GamesFuze reports that wolves appear when the contest begins and that kills yield Wolf Tails.
- Deliver Wolf Tails at open campsites. Look for campsite markers on the map; GamesFuze describes them as green box icons. Campsites can become unavailable during the event, so check the map and event announcements before travelling to a delivery point.
- Complete the final delivery. Game8 lists delivery to the last location as an objective. Check the Codex for the active objective and make sure you visit that final site, not only an earlier campsite.
How many Wolf Tails do you need?
The older walkthroughs conflict. Game8 lists a Wolf Tail x30 objective, while GamesFuze says at least 10 tails are needed to complete the task. Neither figure is confirmed here as the current universal requirement. Follow the counter and delivery objectives shown in your current Codex; if they differ from either guide, the in-game objective is the useful reference for your event.

Event timer and campsite closures
GamesFuze’s September 2024 guide reports that the contest lasts 20 minutes, with one campsite closing after 11 minutes and another after 16 minutes; it also describes the host announcing closures. These are dated guide details, not a guarantee of current event behaviour. Watch the live timer and announcements, and deliver while the campsite you need remains open.
Quest rewards
Game8’s quest listing gives the rewards as:
- 2 Quality Active Skill Growth Books
- 7 Quality Armor Growthstones
- 3 Quality Base Material Selection Chests
This is the reward listing in that guide; a current official reward source was not available to confirm whether it has changed.
