To complete Erik’s Forest Doshaguma request, finish the Chapter 5 main mission Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns, speak to Erik at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp, capture—not kill—a Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forest, then report back to him.
How to unlock Erik’s request
Complete the Chapter 5 main mission Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns. Then visit the Scarlet Forest Base Camp and speak with Erik near the tent to take on the request. Game8’s walkthrough lists this mission as the prerequisite.

How to find a Doshaguma in the Scarlet Forest
Check the Scarlet Forest map and environment overview for a Doshaguma sighting. The request is location-specific: a Doshaguma captured in another region will not fulfill it.
If no Doshaguma appears during exploration
- Rest at the tent to change the time or weather, then check the environment overview again; this is the spawn workaround suggested by Game8.
- Alternatively, take the optional quest Hunt the Doshaguma to get a target without waiting for a wild spawn. GeekStinkGaming’s walkthrough describes this approach.

Weaken the Doshaguma until it is capturable. Look for one of these signs:

- A skull icon above its icon on the map.
- It limps while moving to another area.
- Your Palico signals that it is weak.
When it is ready, use a trap and Tranq Bombs to capture it. Do not finish it off with a killing blow: the objective requires a capture in the Scarlet Forest, not a hunt kill. Game8 lists the capture indicators and method.
Handling a herd
Doshaguma may appear with other monsters. Game8 recommends using Large Dung Pods to separate the surrounding monsters and watching for the target’s heavy slams and ground-shattering attacks; it often winds up before a strong hit.

Report back and collect the rewards
Once the capture registers, return to Erik at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp and report back to complete the request. The listed completion rewards are 20 Tranq Bombs and 10 Large Dung Pods, according to Kiranico’s quest entry and Game8.
